I feel so happy -- I have been steady, between 73 and 101 for 2 days now. I did a bit more tweeking to fix the 73. I've gotten a little obsessive, BUT I now have eight (8) basal rates keeping me beautifully steady without have to "feed my insulin" OR go high mid-morning. YIPPEE!!

To keep my bg flat, my rates are:
12a: .6
5a: .65
6:30a: .7
7:30a: .75
10a: .7
12p: .65
2p: .6
7p: .65

When spring, then summer get here, I'll need to make little adjustments. Oh, and during dog walks, I reduce my basal to 80%, no matter what time of day.

I was bad though:o , and quit taking the advice of my trainer. She had me going to 250 before correcting, so she could study what basals I should use (and was never going to give me more than 2 or 3), and I disobeyed, but got myself fixed up by testing 10 or more times a day for the last 2 weeks.

Way to go!

I have 9 basal rates, due to Dawn Phenomenon!

I remembered your example -- thank you Lloyd!

Or you could create different basal profiles that you can switch between as the seasons change. Keep up the good work. ;)

Way to go, Jan! I'm currently slogging through figuring out new basal rates at night and trying not to get discouraged. Your post helps me keep trying.

That's right BlueSky! Perfect.

Lisa -- It seems like forever getting it right, but when you have it, it feels so wonderful! A lot of people seem to have the dawn phenom begin earlier in the morning hours than I do. I rise the most immediately after getting out of bed. Good luck!

Thanks, Jan. Ever since I've been eating a little differently, my basal rates seem to have grown a mind of their own. Lately I seem to be having the dawn phenom thing a little later in the morning, too, and it's really messing me up. For a while I thought I was having unrecognized lows during the night and my liver was kicking out extra glucose after breakfast, but my basal testing at night has told me that's not the case so far. Buncharackinfrackin #@$$%!!
