I've been on Lantus ( 15u at bedtime) for three weeks now and have had a headache every day. Not bad, just annoying. Is this common? Will it go away?

Marcia,
I don't know anything about Lantus causing headaches. You are gonna love this question . . . . how are your bg numbers? You can get a headache from lows or highs, or stress . . .

What are you taking for your headaches? Ibuprofen? - bad idea for long term treatment generically due to a common contribution to "rebound headaches". _ this is where the headache is actually caused by the chemical. I have headaches too, and have opted to take an aleve everyday. The main reason is the 12 hour dosing. Aleve is Naproxen Sodium, not without it's side effects too. Don't be afraid to ask your healthcare professional about these annoyances; many times they are familiar with easy (say non-prescription) treatments.
Let's also try to learn what triggers our body's stress levels and work around those. Sometimes when I begin to get a headache I take slow deep breaths for a little while and if this helps, then the stress is usually the culprit - maybe time for a break.

Thanks for your help. I dont take anything for the headaches, mainly because I take a darvoset every evening to relieve my arthritis so I can sleep, and I dont want to take any other pain medicine. My bs is not regulated yet so perhaps the headaches are caused from so many ups and downs? Thanks again.

Hi Marcia
When I started Insulin I took only Novorapid (fast acting) and ad headaches every day...I am sure it was the insulin as they came on 15 mins after the shot and faded in a couple of hours...like yours, not fierce but annoying.. I think I osted here or looked up posts here on it.
In my case at least it was not high or low bgs,,
I am not sure when I stopped getting the headaches—we never notice them going away!
