I know I'm new to Diabetes and quite a few of you have been through this already, but for a few hours early this morning I had approximately perfect vision. I took my contacts out last night and same as always, went into blindness mode to rest my eyes while I slept.... I had higher blood sugar yesterday because I went to a bday party and had some cake... I wake up this morning look out the window and I can see clear across the apartment complex with no glasses or contacts.... after a few hours it was back to blurry land and even with my contacts in now I couldn't see as good as I could this morning for a few hours... I know it's the glucose changing my eye pressure and shape but still.
That's some kind of sick joke if I ever knew one.

So what are your sugars like? What are you doing about controlling them? If you think this is bad, wait until you experience retinal hemmhorraging. Fun fun fun!
When my eyes acted like yours did I caledl my friendly Ophthalmologist and got my eye pressure checked. Don't waist your time with an eye doctor at the local WalMart, go directly to the specialist. I took eye drops for several years until my eye pressure returned to normal and I no longer had rapid changes in vision. And I've finally graduated from check ups every 3 months to every 6 months and I no longer need the drops. Wether you have insurance or not, take good care of those peepers.

Yes, you really should get an appointment SOON with an Ophthalmologist, just to be sure all is okay. I get to see mine every 6wks or so at this time but beats the alternative.......................
It's not unheard for there to be vision changes shortly after diagnosis and these are often temporary. Pre-diagnosis, your eyes adapted over time to the higher glucose. Once you've been diagnosed and started treatment, your BGs become closer to normal, but your eyes take some time to get used to the BG change. My vision was junk for about a week after starting insulin, but did return to normal.
Have you called your doctor or eye doc to ask about what you're experiencing? Working on good BG control will help your vision, both short-term and long-term.
Hang in there, and let us all know how things go!
