I have one given to me by my doctor. It's been working fine for two weeks until yesterday. It gave me an error code and I had a hard time bringing it back to the "blood drop" symbol. I had to insert and remove the test strip a few times. I finally got it to read and it displayed 130. I didn't test last night. Just tested a few minutes ago and it worked fine but it was 130 again. Now I'm paranoid that it's stuck on 130 for some reason. Is this likely? Anyone had this happen? I guess tonight's test will be revealing one way or the other but I thought I would ask the forum.

Your battery may be going dead. They are quite inexpensive at Walmart or your drug stores...i'd change it just to be on the safe side. You never know how long the batteries have been in the machines when you get them. I got a "new" meter a couple months ago and already had to get a new battery. The previous one lasted over a year.

As much as I love that little meter (and give to many friends) I have found that about 1 out every 3 I purchase is a "dud"...it is probably a battery thing like Linda mentioned.

I just take them back to Walgreens and get another couple. Honestly, I give them out to many "meter haters"...for some reason they all like the little Mini.

Once in a while I get a "stiff" meter that doesn't want to take the strips...I usually can work them in a second or third time and the problem seems to go away after a while.

It's fine now. I guess it was just a fluke to have the same BG level a few times in a row. Thanks!

I LOVE the mini...but sometimes the strips just don't want to go in as easily as they do on the other meters....There have been coupons in the paper for a free one recently...keep an eye out...and you can get a "spare." I love my green mini...though I wish it would give a 30, 15 and 7 day average like my other monitors do.

Linda, where have you found the "colored" meters? I know they are out there, but haven't seen them in the major chain stores. I'm ready for a new color, I think!

I don't think you can buy them at any stores...at least I haven't seen any. Someone here posted a link to sign up it under the "diabetic freebies for you and me" thread awhile back and I got a green one....a week or so ago someone else posted a link...and I ordered a pink one. I'll look for the link for you.

Colored ones, how fun! At least we can have CUTE ones! LOL!

I did notice that my mini doesn't give averages which surprised me, but I can live without that. That's what the A1c is for, right? ;)

EDIT: Here is a link where you can find stores that sell the colored minis.
