I had a couple of moles removed earlier this afternoon, just to get them checked. Since I got home, my blood sugars have been a little hard to control, and it isn't food related. Could it be that my body is responding to the slight trauma of the mole removal? Anyone else experience this before?
Guess I'll have to up the basals.

Hello Lisa :), So the BG's are higher now. Can it be that a sudden change in your body as let the liver to give glucose to the body to recover from what surgery that you have done.
So test and follow the BG so that you can cover of extra BG that's in your body. I hope that this extra BG will not stay for too long. :)

Thanks, Peter! Yeah, I think you're right, it must be stress hormones from the slicing and dicing. My blood sugars are still being fussy, so I'm trying not to get too upset, just keeping an eye on them.

Lisa, sometimes they use lidocaine with epinephrine as an local anesthetic, which may run your blood sugar up because of the epinephrine. If they did this, you might want to request "plain" lidocaine next time...they should have both on hand.

And guess what? Today I think I'm fighting off stomach flu! Stomach ache, some diarrhea, and overall wooziness. What next? (Maybe it's better I don't ask that question...) :T
