Hey ........from B.C. Canada

First post

Been insulin Dependant since age of 20....
started testing at age 30 and I owe it all to the Gym and lifting weights .I have ran h1c's of 7.6 and am happy to say now at last h1c i'm running 6.2

I have had alot of night lows but switched to Lantus 16 units before bed, humalog rapid 7 before meals .I was doing fine but
I now am waiting for surgery on a torn rotator cuff and an MRI on my bicep to see if it,s torn as well....High sugars ...lots of insulin and now night time lows, BIG deal...I was down to 1.1
Honey is my bed side companion:)
To make things worse ......I'm allergic to anti-inflams
not to mention ACE inhibitors

Welcome to our little group. You seem to have quite a bit going on.

You said honey was your companion & I started thinking: dog? girlfriend? wife? and then realized it was food for hypos. I find juice boxes and juice in general easier to deal with when I'm low but honey's good.

Might suggest more frequent testing, especially before meals and 2 hours after. You might want to consider counting carbs and calculating the pre-meal shots rather than blindly taking a set amount of rapid insulin. Could do a lot to prevent lows. Talk to a diabetes educator or look for aids online to get an initial setup for doing that calculation and then experiment until you get a better understanding of your body's needs.

Ya
I probably test around 5-8 times a day with a range in 4.5 to 15 .......I don't have a hard time bringing it back down .I think going back to counting carbs is the way to go,

Oh by the way ...chk this..........hope this works!?

I was doing great until the injury I'm trying to ride my recumbent bike for exercise but can't get in the grove (pain in the neck)
