Well here is my problem:
I have read a lot about the Whole blood and the Plasma type meters. I have a strong disliking for the many inconsistencies I have had with the Plasma machines. My DE loves the Plasma and can not see the irregularities as a problem. I am a stubborn person so I need some good educating. I own both types, I have the Profile II that I love because it gives me a consistent reading.
I know that the meters are not totally accurate but I get consistent readings to the point that I am able to regulate my insulin well with it.
I love the designs of the Precision Extra, which is supposed to be the more accurate due to more contacts on the sticks, And I own the Ultra and Ultra Smart meters as well. I just got the Ultra smart and love the looks of it. But I still get erratic readings on it. All of the plasma meters give me inconsistent readings. If they would be consistent, I do not care how far off they are as long as all of the tests were within 10mg/dsl of each other. Then I could regulate myself. I have done many, many tests with these meters and with friends that own them as well. I always get readings that are "one after the other” that are 20 to 140 mg/dsl different from each other with the same meter. Within minutes of each test with different fingers without squeezing the finger a lot.
So here is my dilemma, can you plasma meter users help teach me how to use a plasma meter to where I can get consistent readings from them. I have several to choose from. I simply want to find out what I am doing wrong.
Thanks in advance for anyone willing to help in this. I am not always on the forum so my responses may be from one day to the next. I appreciate all that are willing to help..
