I have been diabetic for a little over a year now and I pretty much eat the same foods over and over. I know this is not good because I need a variety of foods in my diet but I am a picky eater. Recently my numbers have gotten a bit wacky but not out of control. I'm seeing them on the higher end of what they should be 2 hours after a meal. For example, I'm used to waking up to numbers in the high 70's to mid 80's and the in the low 80's premeal dinner time. Now my fasting is in the mid 90's consistently and my premeal dinner is the same. My endo wants my numbers for fasting 95 and under and under 120 2 hour after meal. Can eating the same meals over and over cause your body to no respond the same way?

I don't think eating the same foods over and over would cause your blood sugar changes. I, too, eat the same foods quite often, and did this even before diagnosis....makes packing/taking lunches and groc. shopping much easier.

It may be that you're not exercising as much...as is easy to do in the winter. Keep in mind that diabetes is a progressive disease, and it may be that you need your treatment adjusted.

Nope, unless you are sliding quantity wise and don't realize it. Easy to do.

It's likely you are slowly progressing. That's the expected behavior anyway.

No I've always been careful about what I eat. The thing is...I'm not to sure how reliable glucometers are. For instance... I got an A1C in January and they told me when they drew the blood for the sample it was 79 (that was 2hrs after breakfast) and on my glucometer it read 93...almost a 20 point difference. It was only a 5 minute difference from when they took my blood to do the A1C test and when I had to test on my glucometer for my 2 hour post meal. This has happened 2-3 times when I go get blood drawn and they tell me it's in the 70's and I get numbers in the 90's. I talked to my endo and they gave me a new meter but I'm getting the same stuff. Doing a serum is much more accurate than the meters. Also, my A1C doesn't correspond to the numbers I get on my meter. They seem to high for my A1C to be 5.2

my a1c is 6.3 is that considered diabetes? my endo told me it's pre-diabetes, but I should take the oral glucose fasting test, needless to say I could not do it! (my wake up time is 5 am at which time it is usually around 7 or so, then the test was at 9 and my blood sugars dropped to 3.5 at the test (i was going lower) shaking, faint, hypo...and they could not do the test....my question is this .....if I had an a1c of 6.3 and that was one month ago, and then I've been working hard at keeping th enumbers low once I got a glucometer (walking, lowering my carbs,....etc.) then if I take the oral glucose test now wouldn't it be a false reading??? shouldn;'t I be considered diabetic just with an a1c alone of 6.3??? I asked lab, they don't know...can't see the endo regularly because I live in a small town, and waiting list to see the closest endo is 6 months or longer in a town 3 hours away, and the internal medicine specialist same thing.??? my family doctor is clueless.a.nd no doctors are taking patients right now?? please help....
ps I don't know how to read replys on here, there are so many fourms...could someone msg me? or let me know how to read replys to my post, ive posted a few and can't get answers!!1
