I've woke the past three mornings with BGs of 141, 152 and 146. This morning it was 146 @ 7:30and at 10:26 it was still the same.

My pumping has been soooo good that animas released me fron their care about 1 week ago after 2 weeks.

Any ideals what's going on? And I feel like I was hit by a semi.

Penny...........it could be a number of things such as illness, stress, hormones, dawn phenomenon, or your overnight basal rate. Start ruling out from the list and go from there.

Thanks for the info.......I'll start trying to figure it out.

They aren't super high. Inexplicable variances are the rule in my world. Also consider sleep changes, seasonal changes, time of the month stuff, evening snacks or lack thereof, or simply normal meter reading variances.

I know they don't seem that high, but I generally run about 110 - 115 and I have never felt this "fuzzy and lethargic", I'm sure there is a logical reason......just frustrating trying to figure it out. Thanks for the help.

Penny,

I can directly correlate any morning high numbers to the overeating I did the night before. I've had a couple night eating binges in the last couple weeks (taking what I thought were appropriate boluses) and the next morning I was over 150. These days, that's awful. I'm usually in the 80s.

Thanks for the advice, I did have 1/2 slice of pizza about 7:30 last night and I DIDNOT bolus, so maybe that explains this mornings high. I am still soooo new to this pumping that I forget the "little things".
Thanks bunches!

I cannot testify to the veracity of this, but I have been told by my CDE and Endocronoligist that pizza has its own effect called the "pizza effect." I believe it is a combination of fats, carbos, etc. It basically extends the absorbtion of the carbs for several hours...

It sucks cause I love pizza, but have forsaken it in the interest of maintaining control of my BG. Hope this helps and good luck.

It's true but you can figure it out by testing often after eating it. If you have a pump it can be quite easy once you get the numbers right for an extended bolus.

Oo yep, I agree with John you have probably hit the mark with the pizza. Very problematic for many people on the pump, and at the least, a different bolus approach is required. I have been "out of the ordinary" high for many hours the 3 or 4 times I have tried it, with a normal bolus.

Next time it's dual wave experiment time.

Yes, dual wave is cool. I forgot to do it today when I did my bolus for chinese food and have been chasing a high for most of the afternoon, finally got it back to "normal"
