I have had three kidney infections since January. I currently have another one right now. I can not get into the urologist till April 8th. I am moving half way across the world in May. I am so tired of being sick. I have had a history in the past of urinary tract infections. I had a urethral diatlation though in 06 and I did not have more problems till now. These kidney infections are NOTHING like my previous UTIs. I am honestly scared. I am wondering if anyone here since becoming diabetic has had an increased issue with Kidney infections. It this diabetes related or just really **** unlucky? I was diagnosed Type II February of last year. I have had three bad kidney infections since. Keep me in your prayers. I am so tired.....

I know what you are going thru. I am battling BOTH right now, as we speak. I have had recurring Kidney/Urinary Tract Infections since I was about 16. They have done extensive tests on me and found no real damage, but man, it is painful and insanely frustrating. Mine haven't improved or gotten worse since Diagnosis lat May, but I was so sure that once they found the Diabetes and I got it u nder control, last June, that they would at least get better, but they haven't.

All they keep doing to or for me is putting me on more antibiotics. I have been drinking lots and lots of cranberry juice and that seems to keep them at bay a little more than before. Maybe you could try that? I drink 5 5oz glasses per day when it is really hurting..... and it seems to calm them pretty quickly.

I do not suffer from these but I just wanted to offer my sincere wishes for an answer for you! I have had enough of them in my life to know how terribly painful they can be. :(

I am so sorry to read about this :( . I wonder if there is a correlation between having glucose in the urine (a valuable food for a lot of micro/macro organism's) and tract infections. Either way I hope it clears up and never comes back!!

I'm really sorry for both of you Michelle & Kubilee. I also had one of those dilations (?) done a couple years ago, and it did help. I had forgotten all about that . . . . However I read that in some cases, having that done can make the condition worse. I take cranberry capsules every day (2x) and haven't had a problem in a while. I have a lot of compassion for you -- sex is the culprit for me. The hardest thing is loving your husband but almost being scared to have sex because it will bring another UTI on . . . even if taking all the precautions.

I wish I had a good answer. Of course drink a lot, read a lot and see if there is anything else to be done. I'll also research.

Thank you for the replies and support. I appreciate everyone taking the time. I am so tired. The worst part is my blood sugar runs high when I have an infection. I am afraid to see what my next A1C is going to be. Well...that actually is not the worst part. The incredible pain and nausea is the worst part. My daughter asked if we were going to a festivel tonight and I had to say no..... I need to take it easy for a couple of days. I am not nearly has sick this time compared to 3 weeks ago. I am happy about that. So my daughter being 10 years old tells me I am on medicine. I should be all better now. LOL I wish....... I told her that the medicine kills the infection but that the medicine made Mommy nauseated and the last place I wanted to be was tired and nuaseated at a Festivel. I feel bad... I hate mommy guilt. I would not wish this on anyone.

Thanks Again!

Michelle

I know what you mean about those numbers, mine shoots right thru the roof and this time it has been so long that my numbers are insane this time around to the point I don't even wanna go in and have the tests run again. I know I have to and need to, but wow. he is so going to yell at me.

And I don't think the glucose is always a culprit. I have had them since I was 16 and am now 43 and weasn't told I have Diabetes until May of last year, so while I am unsure what DOES cause them, I am almost as certain that it isn't all Diabetes related or they would have said I was Diabetic when I was a kid, and they only said I was predisposed to have it because so many in my family had Diabetes.

Mine is so bad this time around that it hurts in my back, which is also bad, and that makes it even worse. The pain this time around was pretty intense.

I just want you to know you aren't alone in this battle, I am right there with you, and it makes you too miserable to do anything, much less try and go out where you have to be "at your best" in front of people. That one is a real downer.

So get this..... its saturday night and I am having some pretty persistant throbbing back pain on the left side. I could just cry. How can there be a problem? I am taking antibiotics. I am taking it once a day till I see the specialist next month. I was feeling better. Suddenly..... sick again. :bawling: Its going to be Easter tomorrow. I have plans a mile long. Three kids who can not wait to celebrate. I called and put my friend on notice that I might have to go to the ER tonight. I took some medication and I am going to try and sleep. Please pray for me. I just want to be well. :bawling:

Michelle,

I am so sorry for your troubles. How exasperating and what horrible timing. I'm adding you to my continual prayer list. You MUST put your health first . . . just like we told you last time. Your kids want to keep having a mommy. Drink as much as you can & wear a diaper if you have to (for mental relief) so you don't run to the bathroom every 3 minutes. I did that once, just so I could get some work done . . . and I never actually peed in it, but it let me relax some. I'm glad you put your friend on notice . . . since you know this process well (what your body has been doing), should you go on to the ER now?

Gee Michelle, Very sorry to hear that you are still having problems with this. Sounds like perhaps the strain of bacteria you have might be resistant to the antibiotics you are taking. I sure hope you feel better soon!

Many prayers coming your way! The cranberry capsules do work. My hubby has a history of kidney stones and they do help keep those at bay. They're not very expensive, and you can get them anywhere they sell vitamin and herbal supplements.

Prayers for quick healing and a good Easter!

Chronic Kidney Infections: You Don't Have to Live with Them - Associated Content (http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/52218/chronic_kidney_infections_you_dont.html)

I read the above article online written by a woman who was suffering from Chronic Kidney Infections. Turns out she actually had strep throat and the bacteria traveled down to her kidneys. I actually had Strep Throat in December. I am going to call tomorrow morning and schedule an appointment to rule this out.

Thanks again to everyone who has replied and offered support. It really has meant so much to me. My spouse is in the states right now and I do not want to burden him with me not feeling well and I am not going to complain to my children. They are just kids! So thank you so much.

Hugs,

Michelle

I HOPE YOU HAVE FIGURED THIS OUT. This could really be it. It's scary how strep can lead to or cause many other problems. Of course let us know.
