Hi Everyone!
Here in NJ the weather has finally become better for cycling and tandeming with Linda. I've also purchased and mounted fenders on the original tandem so that we now have a wet-road tandem that we can ride after a storm but while the roads are still wet.
The past two days we've managed to start logging miles and we are pleased to discover that, despite the miserable January and February, we haven't lost all that much conditioning. We finished our 22 mile training route in a respectable 1:24:28 which is great for early season riding.
My FBG levels have dropped back down into the low 90's and even the high 80's (Hooda Thunket?) The rest of the week looks pretty good and we are "thinking Spring!"

That is amazing! The tandem is the "bicycle built for two" or the ones that are low to the ground and long in the front?

I have been thinking about getting the bike out also. The warm days have got me into the spirit again. I have been doing spin classes most of the winter hoping to not lose to much conditioning. I'm going to go and get it out and make sure all is good again. I have not touched it since about late November. You just inspired me, Thanks :D

Kim, et al.,
A Tandem is also known as "A Bicycle Built for Two" (as referred to in the song "Daisy Belle")
While I do enjoy getting out on my single bicycle, the tandem is our favorite because it is something we do together and enjoy together. As in any form of exercise, it is doing that which you enjoy the most that you continue to do.
As things stand here in NJ, between schedule and weather, the next opportunity we have to ride the tandem is Monday the 17th (St. Patrick's day -- we'll have to find something green to wear!)
As for inspiration. We just watched the sixth stage of the Paris-Nice race on Cycling.TV -- that makes us want to get on the bike and ride.

Yes the weather here in Missouri is finally started to get warmer too. Thank god. I was getting tired of the misery of winter. Spring is a great time to get out and enjoy the days off work!!:D

Hey there Kstreeter!
Congratulations on your 5K run. Yes, spring is always a time to realize just how much we enjoy the outdoors. Linda and I are getting the tandeming routine re-established despite minor winter setbacks (and a prediction of more rain tomorrow).
Work? I remember work, getting up every day and going someplace so that somebody will give me money. Then I discoverd that I could "retire" and it has been successful. A friend once said: "what I want is a job where I get to stay home and somebody sends me money" to which I replied "I've got that job!"
Time to start preparing dinner.
