I posted the other day how I was feeling weird on Metformin. I spent a whole weekend feeling like a zombie, away with the fairies.
And today, for the first time I don't feel like that...yay!
I have had only one bout of diarrhea (sorry to be so poetic) and non of the upset stomach problems that so many people have told me about. And now I take my Metformin in the morning and it's fine, doesn't affect me at all.
I actually went to work thinking "Ok, I'm fine"...
That was a good feeling :)
But...does Metformin take time to give you side effects? I mean, does it need to build up in your system? Or would I have had all the lovely side effects by now?
As you can see, I am a bit of a worrier....:)

Metformin usually takes a good couple of weeks to a month, sometimes longer, before the nasty side effects go away.

Glad you're doing better! I'm betting you're going to tolerate the metformin just fine. When I was on it, I only noticed problems if I ate greasy foods...and this never changed. It was a good incentive to watch the fried foods though!

Well Linda, its certainly a change to feel "normal" again!
I am hoping I am going to tolerate it well like you..and thanks for the heads up about the greasy foods..I will steer clear of them! :)

That's good news Lulika, I'm one of the lucky ones not to experience side effects from Metformin, as side from the out bout of wind and diarrhea (only 3 times in 15 weeks), this was because I took Met before eating!

I am going to get my meter hopefully tomorrow so watch out for all the questions on "how to" from me! :)

I think any side effects from metformin are encountered in the first few weeks of starting it. I've never heard of it building up and then causing side effects that weren't there to start with. Sound as if you are probably over the hump, but maybe the side effects will come and go for a while. Maybe not...there seems to be a lot of variability in how we get along with metformin.

Lulika, things are going so well for you! That 5.2 is very good two hours after the meal. Not everybody sees such positive changes so quickly, you are very lucky. I'm really happy for you. :)

Do you mind telling us how much your test strips cost in yuan? I am curious. For comparison, the test strips I buy are $94 per hundred, but more expensive if bought in smaller quantities.

Thanks for the support Slipperyelm :)
I get my test strips at a private clinic where all I have to do is sign the doctors report and the pharmacist hands over the bag of goodies. I didnt even think to ask how much it all cost as it is all billed direct to the insurance! How nice it is!
But just out of interest, I will find out at my next doctor's appointment in 2 weeks time and let you know. I imagine they will be pretty expensive because everythng is way over priced here unless it's made in China! :)

Yeah!!! I would be in that for sure. I would carb count and I'll see about getting the barre somewhere installed somewhere and do those ballet stretches and get to look fabulous again. :T

Do you have any old pictures from your dancing days? I always wanted to take ballet but my Dad forced me to take piano instead. No, I can't even play piano now either! :(

I'm sorry, I don't as the teacher has ruled out of camras in class. :( I wish I had a BG meter in those days.

Yeah Kim, Now the piano just remids me of dance. When I took up en pointe then there was the hard work and the crushed toes. OUCH!!
