Hi everyone, I am new to this group and thought I would introduce myself. I am a Type 1.5 recently diagnosed - I was misdiagnosed  by my family doctor as a type 2 and he wouldn't send me on to an endo until almost two years later. Once there I found out what was really going on with me and am now on insulin four times a day and am at the stage of calling in by BS readings every four days to have my insulin adjusted. I thought I would be nervous about the injections (using pens) but am actually relieved to finally have some control over BS readings that for over a year and a half never came lower than 16.7 with medication (metformin and actos). Needless to say I feel much better now! I am looking forward to learning and meeting new people on here! :)

Welcome Sueellen! Glad you finally got things straightened out and are feeling better. I'm also glad to here you reinforce the fact that the shots are not that big of an issue. I know many fear insulin for that very reason.

Post often..there are lots of friendly and supportive people here.

Welcome to the club.

I'm glad the shots are not too daunting because the control you get makes a lot of difference. Are you counting carbs to adjust the shots?

I am not at the stage yet of counting carbs and adjusting; I think the doctor just wants to get me somewhat under control and then on May 1st I meet with the nurse and dietician again to talk about adjusting.

Welcome to the forums :D

Well, if you're a bit of a daredevil, you can always try to make small adjustments- that's what i did in the beginning. But always keep a hypo fix nearby! It's a lot of trial and error in the beginning:T
