Oki, so I have just made 4775g (4.7kg) of muesli as you do. I was trying to work out the carb content from all the ingredients I added. How can a food contain more fibre than carbs? Assuming that fibre is an indigestible carb or is that assumption miss placed. If there are different kinds of fibre how do I know which to sub track and which not to? I assume if it has more fibre than carb that means in real money it contains no carbs. Golden linseed for example has 3g carbs and 24g of fibre per 100g, but doesn’t have a -0.21g of carbs per 1gram. Love the stuff but too much bran is bad for you :D.
carbs quantity
0 500 whole brazil nuts
0 500 whole almonds
0 500 Desiccated Coconut
172.5 500 wheat germ
49.5 500 pumpkin seeds
0 125 Golden Linseed
74 500 whole cashews
63 500 sunflower seeds
4.2 200 pine kernels
266 500 wholegrain bran flakes
265.5 450 grape-nuts
894.7 4775

Remember that in Europe, unlike the US, the carbs listed on the label have already had the fibre taken away. So if you're using a UK label or carb aounting book it still has 3 carbs per hundred not -21 !
Thats a lot of muesli, how long will it last?

:banghead: i didn’t know that, when you think about it make sense, thanks for the info, i was wondering why i was going low (only recently started to think about fibre). lol, doh. Oki this is what I found out:
4775g (4.7kg) contains:
262.3g of carbohydrates
113.6g of fibre
193.8g of protein
It cost me £24.99, I had wheat germ and golden linseed left over from last time. Sources Sainsbury’s and Holland and Barrattts.
It has 0.26g of carbohydrates per 1g or 26.25g per 100g of carbohydrates.
50g portion size contains 13.12g of carbohydrates.
Longevity: I estimated on 50g portion size (assuming I have breakfast every day/week):
95.5 Servings
13.5 Weeks
3.3 Months
Cost:
£1.82 per week
£7.33 per month
Oki enough of being a food/math geek :nerd: :D.

Just thought i would add somthing:
50g portion size is about 5 tablespoons full approximately.
Economy 30g portion size (mum my said that more than 3 tablespoons (approximately 30g) is fattening).
Which works out to be (30g portion size):
159.17 Servings
22.74 Weeks
5.68 Months
Cost:
£1.10 per week
£4.40 per month
