from Cell Robotics Cell Robotics (http://www,cellrobotics.com). I've only tried it once, but I really like it. It made getting
a sample from my finger to test my blood painless.

The Lasette Plus shoots a small laser beam into your fingertip (it says to shoot halfway between the middle of the pad and the
side of the fingernail). It is easy and quick to use, and I didn't
feel anything but a puff of air.

You need a doctor's prescription to order one, and some health
insurances will pay for it. Very good for someone who has an
aversion to sticking themselves with a needle, or who tests frequently and doesn't want to keep sticking themselves.

If I am understanding this correctly, this is just a kind of glcose meter? It' s not something used to deliver insulin, right? I guess since you posted under monitoring, that I just answered my question :p

Hi! Sorry about the link not working. It's www.cellrobotics.com

The Lasette is not a glucose meter, but just like the instrument
you use to puncture a small hole in your finger to get the blood to use on the test strip. You still need the test strips and your meter to use with it.

Hey Susan, great to see you again! :)

This sounds like a great instrument! Good find! Do your fingers heal faster when you use this, and how large of a puncture does it make?
Somehow I just couldn't see that sucker fitting in my teeny tiny purse...

$495? You gotta be kidding me. Sticking my fingers isn't that big a deal. I think I'll wait 'til the price comes down.

Do you have insurance, Heather? Many of them will pay for it.

It has 8 settings, along with 1/2 settings, so there are 16 settings for how large of a puncture you want. They suggest the higher numbers for skin that is thick or calloused, and lower for thin or uncalloused skin. I've just been using it for a day, but so far the skin does seem to heal more quickly.

Yeah, I'll probably stick to my regular Lancet device that came with my monitor, but thanks for sharing this, Nonny. Testing isn't that big of a deal for me, I guess I'm used to it, it's actually the injections I hate

Knowing me, I'd accidently aim it at a mirror and saw my head off (not that that would be a bad thing).

I just looked at the site, and it says "Squeeze your finger to get the blood drop" I've had a question about this for ages, some say squeeze, some say don't....just thought I'd mention it!!

I hope something like this gets over to the UK - I'd love to have a virtually painless way of testing.
