Since i work in a medical warehouse sending out different medical supplies all day- of which a lot is diabetes supplies, i can't help to notice a trend of which monitor people use.
I have found that mainly type 2 diabetics use the Elite/Elite XL and Contour meters, while the type 1's seems to prefer the Accu-Chek compact or Aviva or One Touch ultra.
It's even gone so far now so i've started to call the Elite and Contour for Type2 meters:eek:
So just out of pure interest while having nothing better to do...
Which meter(s) do you use and also add if you're type 1 or 2 :T Could just be fun to see if it's really a trend or if it's just what i think :T

Well that's interesting, I'm a T2 and I have the One Touch Ultra, kind of doesn't follow the trend? :D
I like how small it is and being able to follow my averages, before and after meals with a press of the button.

I use Ascensia Contour. Not had any problems with it unlike my old contour which I had lots of random readings on a trip in whales probably was a heat issue, ie too cold. ;)

I'm type 2 and use the One Touch Ultra II.
I'm curious as to how you know what diabetic types are ordering the meters. Does type 1 or type 2 appear on the orders?

I use the Freestyle Freedom and got a second meter exactly like it for free from Craigslist. Works great.

I use the Freestyle Cozmonitor (it's a Flash in disguise). I used to use the One Touch meters, until I got my pump. :)
Type 1 here.

I use the One Touch Ultra. It was given to me by my endo; I don't think I've ever paid for a glucose meter.

I'm type one and my favorites are AccuChek Complete (no longer being made), Freestyle Flash, and OneTouch UltraSmart. I like the AccuChek and Freestyle products because of their accuracy and the Complete and UltraSmart for their memory.

If it is any consolation, I have never been one to follow trends. But I am a cheap SOB . . . :D

Freestyle flash (3 of them), type 1.
Funny freestyle story: When I was first dating my fiance, I left some used test strips in her trash before we went away for a weekend to Colorado. When we got back, she found the strips while emtying baskets which she didn't recognize and immediately conjured up images of condoms (freestyle is a good name for a condom don't you think?) and blamed her son and his girlfriend. Big fight, accusations & denials flying until I called later that day & cleared up the mystery. Funny now anyway. Touch & go back then. :D

One Touch gal all the way. I have the US, Ultra2, Mini, and an original Ultra somewhere. Type 1.
I would love to use the Cozmonitor with my pump but my insurance won't cover the strips. :(

Well, it's quite easy to tell apart because type 2 patients usually order less teststrips each time;) And also, some kommunes (counties, sort of) has separate departments dealing with type1 and 2. Just something i happen to see sometimes when folding the packing list :T

Hmmm really interesting :D Then it's quite different to what it's like here :T And also, when i worked with old people a few years back, there was also an Elite meter being used to test the diabetic patients.
The Contour sure is popular here anyways. I send out the Microfills a lot:eek:
Personally i'm an Accu-Chek girl :D really like my Aviva, and the Compact plus (though i only use my Compact plus when wanting to carry as little as possible) My first meter was an Precision meter, and i still have that one and using it for testing ketones if needed...

I'm T1 and have an Ultrasmart. Also have one of the little mini ones as a backup, but the Ultrasmart has been in constant use for a few years now.

Hi All-
I just pulled a boo-boo. I do not know how to get rid of it.
What I wanted to do was to post a reply as to what kind of meter I use. I am a type 1 and I use an Accu Check Ultra II. And it does a pretty good job for me.

I have always wanted to use the flash, but it never has given me readings that I feel are accurate. I'm most comfortable with readings I get from the Ultra line so that is what I have gone with since BD stopped making the Logic.
I'm type 1.

I like to use the One Touch Ultra Mini. Yesterday I received a Relion Ultima. The Ultima is consistently higher than the One Touch Ultra Mini.
I checked the calibration on the Ultra Mini with the control solution. I got a result of 107. The range on the control solution was 97 - 127. The Ultima doesn't come with a control solution only a control calibration strip.
So after my dinner last night, I got a 138 from the Ultra mini and a 208 from the Relion Ultima. This was after calibration again.
This morning, 155 with the Ultima and 118 with the One Touch Ultra Mini. I haven't eaten in over 9 hours and I "felt" low as I'm relatively new to having my BG numbers down in the lower 100s. I have a slight headache in the morning when I feel "low."
Anyone else use the Relion Ultima or have had problems with it reading high? The strips are about 1/2 the price for these at Walmart, so that is why I was trying it out. Get what you pay for??
