There is no question that you should see your doctor as soon as possible. It may well be nothing to worry about, but it could also be a sign of diabetic retinopathy or other serious problems. I feel very strongly about this because my husband, who died last year of complications of diabetes, was blind for the last couple of years of his life as a result of diabetic retinopathy. It is very treatable if it's caught early and, in your case, with your recent diagnosis, it shouldn't be a serious problem, but it's nothing to fool around with and you should certainly have it checked now.

Hey Beth,
I am not sure about this, but I would definitely seek a medical professional's help. Health is so important, so why take any chances?
I hope it turns out to be nothing, sorry I can't be of more help.

How did you get on? I have several times though I had severe retinopathy as I have had burst blood vessels in my eyes along with twitching, which has turned out to be not all that much. It is best to be aware of these things, but don't get too upset about it!- Just calmy get them checked out. Also if you are newly diagnosed it is unlikely that you will develop retinopathy in your first five years.
