Peter,
I know that you just made me hungry! I'm going to look around the kitchen and try to find something satisfying. I'm guessing that I'll choose peanut butter, cream cheese and a little sf jelly and mix it all up together!
I love fried rice, but I haven't had it in a while. I try to find low carb foods, so I can eat a lot of it! If I started on the rice, I'd want way too much.
I still want some Vegemite. I'm going back online to try to find some to buy. I was disappointed that World Market didn't have any.

Peter, it sounds boring but I make a HUGE pot of vegetable soup, any veggies, water and a little seasoning for taste. I just keep having a big bowl whenever I feel like it and it takes the edge off hunger and is also totally guilt free! If you eat two or three bowls of it in one go (and believe me, I have,) it fills you up really well :D

Pete,
I have a few favourites:
- Chicken/Beef Fajitas, I use red, green & yellow peppers, Garlic, chillies, onions, beef/chicken in strips. I usually use Old El Paso fajita seasoning. I normally limit myself to two tortilla wraps but cram them full of the mix, some salsa and a little low fat sour cream and cheese. Added to this I have some refried beans. If it's the weekend then a couple of glasses of red wine to wash it done (purely medicinal of course).
My other favourite would be a stir fry (chicken/beef/pork) with lots and lots of veg/peppers/garlic/chillies.
"mexican style chicken"
Two large onions, two green chillies, 4 cloves of garlic (blended into a puree), brown chicken breasts in a pan (one per person, normally use 3), remove chicken, add puree with 1 red and 1 green pepper (sliced) to pan, add a half pint (mug) of chicken stock, bring to simmer, add some chillie sauce (to taste) and a little white wine vinegar, sprinkle some cayenne pepper over chicken breasts, place chicken on top of simmer puree mix, push chicken down into puree until pratically covered, simmer for about 25-30 minutes. Remove from heat sprinkle with grated cheddar cheese. I serve it to family with rice (I normally don't have rice) and some tortilla chips (found some fairly low carb ones).

Oh I am sorry, I was looking at something that will fill me up, But what???

Peanut butter with cream cheese, UUMMmmm..... strange.
I love fried rice, but I haven't had it in a while. I try to find low carb foods, so I can eat a lot of it! If I started on the rice, I'd want way too much.
I find rice very filling and I don't have that much of it and it's low GI too. :)
I still want some Vegemite. I'm going back online to try to find some to buy. I was disappointed that World Market didn't have any.
Aww Jan, If I were to come to America I would buy some off our shelves and you can meet me at JFK airport.

Lilika, That's a great idea and so easy to do as I make a pot of this and freeze some so when the hunger pangs come out to play, I will have some. :D

It doesn't matter that much WHAT I eat as long as I eat it slowly and sort of pay attention to it. I find that if I eat slower and drink water or crystal light with the meal I "hear" the full signal more clearly. Weird, I know but my 2 cent contribution.

I find bacon and eggs are great to fill me up and keep me going!
Also, like Dave, I do chicken/steak fajitas on low-carb tortilla wraps.
I'm also a fan of nuts, and our pantry always has some almonds and pistachios on hand.
Rice:
one of my "evil: foods. Can't touch it.
Pizza for lunch.
2 Huge pieces.
For some reason doesn't bother me.

Cole Slaw... I love it, made my way with splenda in it.
Cauliflower.....CREAMY CAULIFLOWER MASHED POTATOES
LOVE THESE!
1 bag frozen cauliflower florets
4-6 oz of cream cheese (to taste)
1-2 Teaspoons of minced Garlic
1/4 cup heavy cream
2-4 oz of butter, softened (to taste)
garlic salt, ranch dressing powder, pepper, vege-sal, cheddar cheese, parmesan, etc
Microwave cauliflower in microwave safe container and cover with plastic wrap to keep the steam in (follow instructions on bag for the most part).
Cook until cauliflower is very well done (soft!) approx. 8-10 minutes). Drain.
When cauliflower is cool enough for you to handle, squeeze as much water out of it as possible. (You can drain it right in the plastic wrapper it comes in by poking holes in the bottom).
Next, put the cauliflower into a food processor (s-blade) and whir on high for a few minutes. Add the cream cheese, and butter. Mix well; the whole point of this process is to make the cauliflower creamy and smooth.
Check the consistency. If it is too thick for you, add a tiny bit of cream, mix, and check again. Too much liquid and you will end up with soup (hence the draining!)
Ok, now the fun part. Add seasoning to taste. A few shakes of Ranch dressing powder can really spice it up. Or add garlic, salt and pepper, cheddar cheese, or a dash of chili powder. Serve hot/warm... you may need to heat it quickly in the microwave before serving, but usually it's good to go to the table.
Omelettes... In the morning with stir fried green & Red peppers and onions. Sometimes Mushrooms.

At our D education class they said to eat the meat first and we would not eat as much because meat is satisfying. It's worth a try.

Vegetable soup for me too! We make a big pot, using up all leftovers from fridge, and eat from it for days. It is always good. I love Cauliflower too, but I just boil the whole head, pull off what I want, heat it in microwave and use spray margerine and sea salt and pepper. It is good for when I want something quick and filling. Now if I am in need of comfort food....it is always some kind of bread. I just try not to need comforted too often. :D
Gee, my favorite topic. I LOVE to cook. And unfortunately, I love to eat too.
Any kind of low carb chopped salad. Add some cheese, tuna or chopped chicken & dressing. Lasts for hours with me. For a different taste, saute the mushrooms and onions. Add peanut butter to vinaigrette dressing for another change. (Watch out, it's addicting.)
Half an apple cut up and dipped in peanut butter. Celery filled with cream cheese & dipped in salad dressing. (Instead of potato chips.)
Mmmmmm. Veggie soup with a little Dreamfields pasta. Tortilla soup with a few strips of low-carb tortillas, sour cream and shredded cheese on top.
Enchiladas with low carb torts softened in a wet paper towel in the microwave. Cooked chicken, cheese, olives and canned sauce if you're in a hurry. Cheese, sour cream, & avocados on top.
A big pan of steamed Brussels sprouts with canola oil margerine, salt and pepper. Hubby adds lemon juice. For dessert, 1/2 baked yam with butter, s & p. HUbby adds maple syrup.
Bacon and eggs. Deviled egg salad with mayo and mustard, salt and pepper eaten right out of the bowl--no bread.
Quick snacks: a couple of "dominos" of cheese or a handful of spanish peanuts, cashews or pistachios. A spoonful of peanut butter. Low carb yogurt. Little carrots.
A chicken thigh. One of the pan of chicken breasts and thighs I bake each weekend to last the week. Drizzle w olive oil & herbs, salt and pepper and bake an hour until crunchy.
In summer, a big pan of ratatouille made of garden produce and topped w grated cheese.
I have to add, many times I make garlic toast or oven baked potatoes for my husband because of the lack of carbs in our meals. My splurges are generally two or three Dove dark chocolate promises when I'm craving chocolate. If I'm out and a dessert truly tempts me, I badger my husband into ordering one :T and I eat one or two bites of his.

OMG, I Loooove beef jerky! It's a great snack. I love pizza, too, but unfortunately... And rice. Love rice.
I also love Indian food. Curry, tikka masala, vindaloo, naan, heaven help me!
Now if I'm honestly trying to be nice and not very, very naughty, I'll have a s/f Jell-O pudding snack and crumble a graham cracker on top. Sort of like pie. LOL.
But when I really, really want comfort food, I crave homemade chicken and dumplings (NOT the canned stuff), field peas (sort of like blackeyed peas, but not quite), cornbread and peach cobbler. I am a Southern child at heart. And Southern chicken and dumplings are a completely different proposition from the kind you see recipes for in the women's magazines that have canned biscuits on top. Yuck. And one day, when my BG is behaving nicely, I'll eat some in moderation.
Salad also fills me up, even if it isn't as tasty as chicken and dumplings. However, a salad with barbecue pork on top is excellent!

Geeeesss, I shouldn't be reading this before dinner, I'm hungry!
Carne Asada burrito with cheese and guacamole from Robertos. I'll do the princesslinda trick, bring it home, throw away the flour tortilla and put it into a Mission Low Carb tortilla...mmmmm, in heaven and no spike!

Hiya
2 things I love and find filling:
Butterfly and flatten out some turkey breasts - 2 is ok (for me :D )
put some ricotta cheese in middle with chilli's or herbs or spinach and roll it up
Wrap the whole lot in parma ham and use a couple of cocktail sticks (low fat of course :D ) to secure the ends
pop in oven
or
stir fries with loads of chinese or thai veg and spice's
or
curries with lots of indian spice's with some philadelphia or low fat greek yoghurt to stir in at the end
Good luck and stay full:D

My favorite satisfying food is mashed potatoes and ground beef. Don't ask me why, but my Mother used to make that for me when I was sick and I loved it.
I love any kind of potatoes, but homemade mashed is the BEST.

A huge plate of chopped salad topped with a grilled sliced chicken breast is good... I can seem to tolerate rice pretty well as long as it is mixed with some protein; I make a really yummy casserole with long grain and wild rice mix (I think it is rice a roni natural selects or something like that) cooked a little short of being done, topped with frozen mixed veggies, cubed cooked chicken, and cover the whole thing with cream of mushroom soup; finish with some parmesan cheese and bake in the oven.
I am having a hard time finding breakfast items that don't send me soaring though...

Please note that all the chosen filling foods above contain FAT. Even the fried rice contains fat. It's the fat that is filling. Nore: I am not endorsing eating rice as it is a carby food. The celery is filled with cream cheese; the salad contains lots of cheese, etc. If you want to stave off hunger pangs, keep the carbohydrates low and eat some protein along with some "good" fat... cheese, nuts, cream cheese, avocado...

Avocados, nuts, eggs, cheese... fat and protein basically. I find these last me the longest between hunger pangs.

A stuffed omelet for breakfast does it for me. I like to make an omelet with two eggs and I stuff it with sauteed onions and green pepper, some chopped tomatoes and shredded cheese. This keeps me full for hours.

I have been eating a lot of almonds lately. I have found the chili and lime almonds have 2 net carbs for 28 pieces. But I have to watch them with their fat contant and the Ali that I am taking. Also a chicken breast marinated in pinapple juice usually does the trick.

Hi there
I couldn't stick to my diet without GG's Scandinavian Bran Crispbreads - they are 85% fibre and only 22 calories each. They obviously do a good job of filling the tummy. They have carbs but only the good sort. They are not that appetizing to look at as they resemble small cork tiles ;) but I usually top them with extra light philidelphia with a smidgin of chili sauce just to give them a kick but any topping would be fine for these. The website is Velg språk / Choose language (http://www.ggnorway.no)

Aww Nancy. I have it on toast. Just because it's a ugly color many people thumb their nose at it as it the same for those who look at blue vein cheese.
Nancy, it's not all that bad. :) Please believe me. ;)
