I have an intermittently inflamed trapezius muscle, for which the only relief I can get is heat and ibuprofen or naproxen. Tylenol sort of works.
I've read those on Met shouldn't take NSAIDs because they can cause hypos. At this point, with my birth control interacting to make my BG higher, something that would lower it would be good. Heh.
Anyway, do any of you folks on Met also take Advil or Aleve or any kind of NSAID? If so, how long after your Met do you take it and have you had a hypo because of it?
Any info is welcome. Thanks!

Scrabble,
You REALLY need to make nice to a pharmacist! :D
Thats a lot of potential interactions.
Not taking any of those things but I hope you find some assistance.

When on metformin, I took ibuprofen whenever I needed it, with no problems whatsoever. I try to take as little medication as possible, but when my neck/shoulders/head ache, i'll do what it takes to relieve the pain.
I'd suggest you try it and keep watch on your blood sugars to see how it affects you. I would think there would be more problems as to the effects on your kidneys than with your blood sugar...IMHO.

I try not to take any more pills than absolutely necessary, myself. But when this shoulder starts acting up, it's imperative I take something so I can work! It's a repetitive motion injury from, you guessed it, too much computer mousing. I switched to a trackball, which helped, but I still have problems from time to time. My workstation isn't exactly ergonomically-friendly and my boss doesn't really care.
My boss is a freak, anyway. When we were all getting computer chairs, I wanted a particular one from Office Depot, like I have here at home. It's a good chair and supports my back. I got approval to order it, but when it came in, he wouldn't let me keep it because it didn't "match" the rest of the new chairs. I didn't like the new chairs. They DIDN'T fit my back! Two other co-workers felt the same way. So, we kept our old chairs because they felt better than the new ones.
The boss's chair doesn't match any others either, BTW. But I digress...
