I've been making my own bread since November 2007. I bought a B&D 2250 (http://www.epinions.com/Black_Decker_B2250_Bread_Maker) on sale at Wallyworld for $45. It's ok. I wouldn't buy it again, but I now have some experience and I'd know more about what I'm looking for. I certainly don't regret buying it for this price.
I've determined that most bread machine reviews on the net are ****. There seems to be a militant group of experienced know-it-alls who demand the finest performances. I found negative reviews on mine were outright lies.
Can you make low carb breads? I don't see why not. I don't. I make mostly a multi-grain based bread using Robin Hood best for breaf flour, Canuckian. It both tastes and behaves much much better than anything I've ever bought in a store. I don't think I could go back to store bought breads. I also cotrol the ingredients: salt, sugar, fiber. You'll have to google for low carb recipes and maybe see if you can find the proper ingredients first.

Sorry to be off topic... but you are only the second person I have heard use "Wallyworld"... that is, as long as you are referring to Wal-Mart. I heard a friend of mine use it once, now I say it all the time.
Sorry I can't contribute to the bread thread, I am happy with my Aunt Millie's Whole Grain Light.

I got a Betty Crocker one at Goodwill for $10. :D I'm still trying to figure out how to use it though; I used a mix first and that turned out fine but all my from-scratch ones have not risen sufficiently and I think I didn't use enough flour. You can reduce the sugar by about half in most recipes. Try tasteofhome.com for some recipes.
I ve been making low carb bread in the breadmachine for several years now. I love it. 4 or 6 carbs persliced and I have even found lower carbs than that. I am making lowcarb bread all the time for myself using the bread machine.

So if you are making low carb bread for several years, what recipes do you use--or where can we find them?

Not sure if this will help but use bread machine yeast rather than regular yeast.
