Ok, I am looking all over the internet to try to get an idea what the carb count is for Chinese Pepper Steak. We are going there for dinner and I am trying to get a good idea of how much I might need to bolus. Anyone know of any reference place on the net to look for this info? I tried CalorieKing with no success. Thanks.

Are you going to a local restaurant, or a national chain? If a national chain, many are under dietfacts.com with menus and nutritional values.
I would think green peppers and steak wouldn't hurt you as long as its not in a sweet sauce. The rice will be the biggest challenge. I try to get brown rice when at all possible, otherwise I go with "fried" rice over steamed white rice...since it has egg in it and hopefully will digest more slowly. Even so, if its white rice I eat it VERY SPARINGLY.

It's a local place, and they have brown rice not white. I usualy get one plate of with a little Rice with Pepper Steak, and if still hungry I head to their hibachi for just some steak and mushrooms and onions.

I don't have a problem with Pepper Steak. As far as I know there isn't much sugar in the receipe. Fried rice is an issue for me, but I eat it anyhow and bolus for it. I don't eat that much Chinese.

Mariah,
Thanks for the link, I did an extended bolus using this as my guideline last night (I added a little more to account for the rice) and it worked out great for me. I usually do an extended bolus at Chinese because my son takes a long time to eat his dinner when we go there. Thanks Again.

I'm glad that the link was helpful and you were able to enjoy your pepper steak and keep your blood sugar level. I admit, Chinese food is my weakness but I try to avoid the carby stuff and focus on the meats/veggies they offer. I have actually made my own Chinese main courses and my husband says it's better than the local restaurants. Hmmm, maybe he only says that so I will make it more often :D

I love doing stir fry at home. Give me an excuse to do a little saki too.. My wife got this saki set for a Christmas gift one year, so I tell her we might as well use it. Right... :D
Anybody remember Sweet and Sour Pork???
Ohhhhhhhh.
