Hiya,
I was just wondering if anyone on here has been travelling? I'm planning to go travelling in Asia this summer with 2 of my friends but i'm not sure how that will work with for example keeping my insulin cool and what happens if you lose your insulin, can you get it over there? And how about the food and carb counting? Any good tips?
Thanx! :)

Asia is HOT in summer! So i'd recommend use a Frio bag for your insulin you bring with you outside. As for China (only asian country i've been to and know a bit about D wise) you can find Humalog and Novorapid, and Lantus is also available, along with "old school" insulins (like Mixtard/NovolinR 30). Counting carbs can be a bit problematic in China at least... Quite a few hidden carbs there, like added sugar in sauces and marinades even though it doesn't taste very sweet. I just guessed most of the time, and had to give corrections many times...

Aside from keeping your insulin gear with you, not checked, when you travel, it is a good idea to have a statement from your doctor or endo indicating that you are diabetic and the necessary items you need for treatment of the disease. The may help in the security/customs area and also be of some help if you need to purchase anything locally.
