My mom just called from the hospital, my dad's had a light heart attack.

He was feeling kind of bad earlier today, but thought it was stomach acid or something like that. Then later tonight he was feeling worse and my mom called the doctor, they came right away with ambulanse.

I'm going to the hospital now, I'm in shock. I guess now is the time to really watch my BG.

This is a scary time for you and your family, but having gone through it myself, I know that it will probably come out OK. We have such good care for heart patients anymore! He will need to make some changes in his life, but they are not too hard. I hope you are doing the things you need to do to keep your heart healthy, because although they have good medical care, it is not much fun to have a heart attack. :)

Viranth, I hope your dad does well and recovers quickly. You be safe on your way to the hospital and try and keep calm.

Stress does tend to raise blood sugars, so don't be surprised if you notice an upward trend.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you and your family are doing.

Viranth,
Sorry for the bad news. How old is your dad? "Light" sounds encouraging at least. Hope he's good to go soon and your mom is okay too. Bring your meter and some snacks and change for the hospital vending machines. You just never know.

Virath,

I'm soo sorry to hear your news, please try to relax, I know exactly what you are going through right now. My father had a MAJOR heart attack about 3 years ago while on holiday in Florida. This will be a very stressful time for you and your family. The important thing is, your Father is in the hospital now and that's the best place for him to get the attention he needs.

You and your family need to not only look after him but after each other.

My prayers are with you all,

Thank you all for your support. I'm very glad to say that it was not an heart attack. They checked the arteries/veins to the heart and there was no blocking.

They say it's most likely an iflammation of the tissue around the heart, so it's treatable with normal anti-inflammation medicine (stuff people use for headaches). He'll be going through several tests through the night, so he's in good care.

He even got a helicopter ride from the hospital to the hospital where they had specialists on heart attacks and such.

Before I called and knew it was not an heart attack, it was the worst night ever. It was just horrible, I have no idea what I would do without my dad. He is only 54 years old, and lives a fairly healthy life. But now he's going to get well, he has to work less (running own company), exercise and eat healthier.

Thank you again for all your kind words =)

That's fantastic news!

I know exactly what you mean about the idea of it being the worst night ever, I went through it and don't want to again. Thankfully my Father may a good recovery.

Rest now and look after yourself.
