I am just interested in other d1 correction values. If poss could you tell me in mmol. Many thanks. Carolyn.

On my pump, I use a sensitivity value of around 1.3 mmol/l per unit of insulin (novorapid).

Mine is roughly 2.0 mmol/unit of insulin.

hi carolyn,
my correction ratio is 1 unit for every 2.5mmol

but during the night i have to take 1 unit for every 1mmol

:D

1u takes me down roughly 2.5mmol

Unless I'm quite high - anywhere over about 10mmol and it takes at least 'one for the road' (one extra unit) because insulin resistance visits me when I'm high.

This applies to me too. And once it gets to 13 or 14 I become Mr Insulin Sponge and it's anyone's guess how much might be needed to get down. Occasionally I am suprised and it works with just a couple units for the road, but often it can be up to twice the amount (making it something like .6 mml/l per unit) and take twice the time it "should".

That's the one Subby! I like that term - insulin sponge. And it does seem to take a whole lot longer to get down again.

Some days I intentionally overdose and just keep checking, so that I can eat something to match the leftover insulin once I get into range. I'd much rather do that most days (Unless I'm going out / driving / exercising and find it just toooo fiddly). I just can't stand being high for any length of time, and this overdosing trick is a lot easier than a few small correction jabs and a lot of high results on the meter while waiting for hours on end.

Not that I'd recommend it for others... to do that you have to have a lifestyle that allows you to stop & eat as soon as you need to, and need to keep safe, and aware that you could low any minute.

I'm very sensitive, ISF is 5mmol/l. Less sensitive if I'm high though (around 12+).
