Put in a new set yesterday for my pump, and after an hour it came loose on the skin, due to me stretching the skin out too much. It's an issue when i'm low on body fat. Anyway, the cannula was still in so i decided to tape the sucker down with a lot of tape, and hope it held on till today at least. Bad move. I woke up this morning with my sugars at 8(160 something). it happens sometimes, so i didn't pay it any mind. gave myself a 2.80 dose and prepared for a healthy breakfast consisting of a glass of OJ, two sandwiches, some yogurt and muesli. Ate that, and checked 45 min later preparing to go to the gym. 13. bugger. injected some extra, took a walk to the gym, it always gets me down fast. got there, checked. 11. hm. checked the set for the first time, and it was dangling along on the outside of my skin. great! it is so annoying when you get ready for a good hour or two at the gym, get there and realize you have to go back home an change. annoying.

Good thing though i guess is that eating all that without any insulin "only" get's me to a 13. hm. oh well.

I know the feeling of trying to save a cannula that really should be replaced. Luckily for me, with my new "tegaderm HP" sandwich method the sets seem absolutely glued in place. You are indeed lucky to have that small a spike with all those carbs - I'd predict being easily up towards 18 if it were me. How did your stability go recovering in the following hours?

You should get yourself a little pump change kit for your bag, then you can change anywhere, anytime. I couldn't do without my little baggie of stuff, including everything to change a set and a syringe and spare insulin, if a shot is required to get me through a patch when I can't change the set.
