Build your own device

Hi again

Previously we’ve been using this forum to ask for your opinion on existing devices e.g. insulin pens, syringes, pumps. (In the thread Developing new injection device - please help)

Now we would like to introduce to you the worlds 1st “BUILD YOUR OWN DEVICE GAME”. This is a simple and funny little game where you can customize your own injection device by choosing from different shapes, functionalities, skins etc. Try the game RIGHT NOW by clicking the link below or copying it into the navigation bar of your web browser.

https://www.student.dtu.dk/~s032344/device_builder

Hopefully the game will inspire you and challenge your idea of what a device can be. I you, after completing the game, have any comments, questions or like to share your ideas of what future injection devices should be like please don’t hesitate. You can either write your comments in the text box at the end of the game or use this thread.

A little background info:
We are two graduate students at The Technical University of Denmark doing our master thesis in product development and innovation. The project aims at developing a future device for insulin injection. We believe very much in user involvement and try to gather as many user input as possible.

We hope you like the game - Jacob & Rasmus:)

Good job.

I'd rather see the "caorie calculator" be a dose calculator though.

Interesting and ingenious way to gather information. The trouble was it was difficult to choose only 4 items for the device when you offered so many interesting ones, like a larger cartridge size for those of us using high amounts of insulin, and maximum dose sizes exceeding those usually offered in insulin devices.
A bolus calculator would be very handy too. My own wish is for a device that tells me my last shot date and time and number of units. It would save many an anxious moment wondering whether or not I actually did given myself the shot or not.

Thank you for playing...

The game has been developed to get users of injection devices to think about their needs and wishes. We hope the game or what ever you prefer to call it has made you think about how you envision your future device!

It seems my best injection device is a 1/2 cc syringe. Pens are too big and bulky.

Same :D There is another thread on this forum about unit increments on pens that might assist you in your pen making.

I just made a pen that can dose up to 120 units, or one with 150 unit cartridge, other than that it's pretty much like the NP4 :T But really, i think a pen that could inject 120 units in one go would be great for some, whilst i really don't get why NovoNordisk quit the 150 units pen and cartridges. For quite many a pen holding 150 units and with .5 units increments or smaller, would be the ideal, this is probably especially true for young children...
