Hi,
I am new to this site..and would appreciate some advice.
My husband is a type 1 diabetic. He is 42yrs and was diagnosed when he was 11.
I am 32yrs old and we are thinking of starting a family.
Does diabetes interfer with fertility? I would love some guidance here.

Yes, it can.

"retrograde ejaculation" (diabetes|diabetic) - Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&as_q=%22retrograde+ejaculation%22+%28diabetes%7Cdi abetic%29&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&num=100&lr=&as_filetype=&ft=i&as_sitesearch=&as_qdr=all&as_rights=&as_occt=any&cr=&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&safe=off)
fertility (male|man) (diabetes|diabetic) - Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&as_qdr=all&q=fertility+%28male%7Cman%29+%28diabetes%7Cdiabeti c%29&btnG=Search&lr=)

Not really... If the diabetes was not managed well it could lead to other problems. However, I do not believe sperm production or motility are affected by diabetes. (correct me if I'm wrong)

The only thing that is more common is retrograde ejaculation. Retrograde ejaculation is caused by neuropathy. Unfortunately that's the thing neuropathy usually affects first, before the hands and feet. A good cure for that (which doctors won't tell you) is plain old Sudafed (the one with psudoephedrine in it) (in the U.S. you have to ask for it from the Pharmacy but no scrpit is required.) Sometimes double the dose is required but I am not suggesting anyone use more than directed on the box.
