Hello all
I have been basal testing like a freak and having tons of success. The reason I am posting is that I am new and continue to be facinated by what I have learned in the last month! I get on and read everything and stay motivated. Haven't participated much as I am just over a hidious flu and have been spending all my spare time picking my fingers, recording and analysing. Have the first 10 hours of the day pretty much worked out - on to the next 14. Thanks everyone.

It really is an epiphany isn't it? It sounds like the pieces are falling into place.

So much to learn about diabetes... but even more to learn about yourself... keep up the great work :)

You got it! I can't believe how much work it is. It looks like I have quite a strong DP peak at 6am. Anyways, my next adventure will be testing my carb ratio and this new thing I saw today - super bolus.

I love your attitude. I really enjoyed the major basal testing I did a couple months ago. The epiphany really is awesome! I was most excited when I smashed that DP right into oblivion! Well, of course it still exists but my bgs don't look like it . . . my basals look like a pyramid, with the highest basal rate from 6:30am until 9am.
Keep up the good work.

I've been playing with this more often lately. I now treat spikes with it. Add next four hours basal to my correction then cut my basal for four hours down to 5 or 10 percent. So far so good, but not enough times to really know.
I'm also finding it useful for unusually high GI foods. DW just made the awesomest cinnamon buns ...
I think it's about time for me to revisit my basals too. They are working fine, but with increased activity, it would be prudent. *sigh*

That makes sense as I have discovered that very tiny changes in the basal make quite an impact so it must work the other way as well. Life effecting the basal.
I have quite the sharp morning pyramid which may change once I set the rest of the day.
I was disappointed to pop a 14.8 (270) this afternoon after an obviously too hi GI lunch. As mentioned earlier my new basal has keep me completly flat from midnight til noon - fasting. The hi falls in my second section for basal testing so no obsessing. Did I mention that I have been told by various diabetes care teams that I am too obsessive. Are you kidding!!!! My a1c sucks and I was led to believe it was good. I feel completely behind the times but give me a minute and I will catch up to you guys.
To do list: finish resetting basal, carb ratio, and correction, get the carbs down, get the daily dose down, stop over-correcting (oh ya...done - finished with that), get the weight trainng going again then get a new job (what...a not diabetic thing!) One more...learn the forum lingo....

Gezus, you're trying to get me all wired up again!
My endo and one of the dieticians agree with my approach. The other dietician has no clue anyway. My DE calls me "technical" with disdain. I'm trying to help a friend get straightened out, but DE has her brainwashed. I know she warned her about me, but I don't know what she said. DE tells her to treat all meals with dual waves as it more closely mimics the pancreas. What a bunch of gob-snot! I'm fighting back though; I've finally talked her into accepting my extra Walsh book ;) My Nurse Practioner thinks I only need to test three times a day, but if endo is happy, she can live with it. I'd love to make her happy: upside the head with a baseball bat!
Not only will your A1C be coming down, but you'll also find your hypo incidences much less frequent. It's called good control!

What's an extra Walsh book?
Will try not to get you too wired up not cant guarantee that! What is your approach? From what I can see you're in great shape cuz your driving the boat.
I am in Ottawa -they have moved all the diabetes stuff to one centre which I will need to switch to as my endo is very near retirement. Not liking to be told what to do - I pray I get an endo I can get along with.
Improved control is already making me feel better. Maybe some of it is psychological.
Have you found that the perfect basal just doesnt work some days or is there always user error?

Basically the same as yours with some fancy graphing.

I lived in Orleans from 89-92. I had an older guy back then somewhere on the East side. I forget his name. Where is this one centre?

Yup.

I find it works 95+% of the time. Bad days almost always tie into bad sets and bad food choices.

Diabetes care has been moved to the Riverside Hospital.
I will go get that book from the library but frankly I am freakin out about all the info you people have and share. I would really like to have more time to devote to getting excellent control.Weird to say but today my thought of the day was "my life is getting in the way of my diabetes".
