As stated in other threads I don't tend to make a big deal about coding my meter. I get 3 months worth at supplies and usually all the vials have the same code number. When I think of it, I'll change the code, but I've never paid much attention to it. I have tested before and after code changes with same blood sample and results were nearly identical.

Tonight... while waiting for the pizza delivery guy I felt a hypo. Pull out the meter. Poke right ring finger. 88. Hmm. I feel much lower than that. Decide to retest. Happened to notice that the new vial I opened last night is 17. Meter code is 9. I change it. Poke right middle finger. 43. Hmm. Maybe there was something on my finger for the first poke that affected the test. Retest again on the Right ring finger in virtually the same spot. 44. The 43 and 44 more closely matched my hypo feelings.

So maybe the coding does matter. 88 and 44 is enough of a difference for me to change my opinion on coding.

Glad you've come back to the light!

I've done nearly the same thing when I realized after a long run of one number got me complacent and a new number showed up. Results weren't as dramatic as yours but they were different enough to make me remember to code it correctly.
