Alright 3 or 4 months ago I really wouldn't have cared. But I'm really trying to stay on track here. As I was cooking dinner it dawned on me that I wasn't sure if I took my dinner time dose of glipizide (10mg). I remember contemplating taking it but I don't remember actually taking it... ugh! I was cooking fish, warding off my two year old from the hot stove and I just really can't remember if I did nor not.

So what should I do? Is it better just to potentially skip it or would it be worse to accidentally double the dose? :(

I have 3 of those "7 day " pill boxes and I portion out my meds for the week - AM, Noon and PM. Then it becomes quite clear if I have taken them. I'm of the opinion that it is better to go high for a few hours (especially in the evenings) than to risk going low.

Can you test and see if your readings are in line? If your readings are whacked, perhaps you did miss your meds.

Count your Pills and subtract the pills you have taken see when it was filled and just do the math

This happened to me the other night. I'm so new to taking any medication that I just couldn't remember. I skipped to avoid a double dose.

Some mornings I even forget to take my vitamins. I'm definitely not a morning person:eek:

Hopefully all of this will get better with time.

When ever this happens to me, I find that it's better to skip the dose and just take the meds at the next prescribed time. I personally don't see what harm there is in missing a dose. I figure that I wasn't taking anything for the first 6 years after I was diagnosed, so missing one more dose isn't going to hurt anything in the grand scheme of things.;)

I don't take glipizide, but if I forget to take my Metformin, has happened twice, I skip and take the next dose.

I was at a weekend photography course and the guy leading the workshop is a Type 2, he is on Metformin and glipizide, towards the end of a day I felt he was loosing concerntration, turned out he was running low most of the day. The ejeet (Irish was of saying foolish person) could not find his metformin that morning so took a double dose of glipizide, then in the evening did the same thing again. I opened his camera back and showed him where he had put his Met!

I *think* it would probably be better to run a little high than to risk a double dose.

I definitely wouldn't double-up on the glipizide, as you could really go low with it. I'd just forget that dose and start fresh with the next one....and get one of those daily pill boxes to put your week of meds in so you'll easily know if you've missed a dose.

Thanks. Yes, I just checked my BG more last night. Really didn't see much of a change. My fasting was 148 this morning but I'm never under 140 anyhow so I'm thinking I probably took it.

Yea, after I really got to thinking about it taking a double dose would be silly, especially if I were to experience a low during sleep. I'll just skip next time.

I think I will invest in one of those 7 day pill things... You know, they just scream geriatric or sick person to me though. I know silly reason not to use them...

Thanks for the advice. Its good to get others input!

I felt the same way about the pill organizer, Tashia. I had no use for it. However, all I have to do now is open the little compartment and I know instantly whether I've taken my meds. Takes a load off my mind.

The 7 day boxes are great unless you are like me and can not fit all your pills in one!

Missing one dose dose not usually cause a big problem. Believe me I should know. I have gone back and recounted so many bottles of pills to see if I took on e or not it is unbelievable. Now I do have one that if I do not take it my BP gets so low I am bragging bottom!

It's always better to maybe miss a dose, than double dosing! Having a week box where you put all your meds for one week at a time, with different times too, is really a good idea. that way you'll clearly see if you've taken it or not. And all this reminds me, i should take my allergy medicine and minipill just about now :T
