Battery life,,,,MM real time transmitter ??

I'm somewhat interested in Paradigm Real time testing ! One major concern is the battery arrangement in the sensor transmitter. What I read online is that the battery in not replaceable but is rechargeable and comes with a charger ! So, Im wondering how long does the battery last, how many times can it be recharged ? At $1000 for the system, I cant imagine my insurance buying me a new one say one a year. Hopefully, the battery is now user replaceable! Thanks for your reply, Dan

The battery is NOT user replaceable, the transmitter is warranted for one year (unlike the pump, which is warranted for four years). According to the tech rep I spoke with, the battery is good for about 1000 recharges (3000 days). I've run sensors up to 9 days with no battery problems. They recommend you recharge it between each sensor change.

The transmitter is about $700, not $1000 according to Medtronic, and my insurance company said: "Well, its a medical product with a finite life. Of course we'll buy you another one when this one fails"

That having been said, I'd pay the replacement costs out of pocket if I had to. The combination of my 722 and CGMS has been a godsend. Life changing, wonderful, all kinds of good words.

And I can't say enough good things about Medtronic's trainers. They made my transition from MDI to the pump and CGMS painless, interesting and happy.
