Hey, I'm back with some questions on my basal testing adventure. I thing I have my midnight to noon basal pretty much worked out but as I have been adjusting the rest of the day I am having some changes in the morning bgs, I have been working on the 6pm to midnight section so ended up with some incidences of a bg of 4.4 at 4 am - 6 am then... the ol familier rise in bg til noonish to around 12.0. It doen't feel the same as DP so wonder if that's a liver output responding to the 4.4.

Some cool things about improved control:

My avg total daily dose is down from 36 to 30. Lost 10 lbs.

Only 4 hypos in 2 weeks (and that's counting 4.0's - almost unbelievable) No standing in the fridge chomping away!

No major correcting - no major swings in bg = no crabby gramma.

Addicted to my tester - could be considered negative by some. Got to work without it one day - turned right around and went back got it.

The oddest one of all was the return of the sensation of true hunger. Was driving back to work from lunch errands and started feeling, what I thought was sick, got a little worried (never drive if bg is suspect) discovered it was ravenous hunger with a normal bg. My craving for hi gi carb is down. Is that psychological?

Got a little rant and ravy there. Thanks for reading....my husband and daughter are super supportive but their eyes do glaze over when I go detailly.

I don't think so myself. In my experience carbs beget carb cravings, and uneven, high or swinging BG beget carb cravings.

The hour my BG swings, is the hour I get strong carb cravings - even if I'm not aware of my BG going out. Time and time again has this happened. Every time I have a strong carb craving, I am high at 11+ mmol/l (or low of course, hypo cravings).

Gosh, I hope that rings true for me too because then all the more motivation to keep good control. I crave protein and fat when I'm low, if its just mild I envision eating bologna, cheese and peanut butter. I drink the juice first and then make the weird snack.
