Just a quick intro. Diabetes is common on both sides of my family. I was diagnosed Type II in 1997. Started on Amaryl and kept things in check until I dehydrated in 2001. Started insulin at that time. My current list of meds includes Glucophage, Amaryl, Actos and I use Humalog and Lantus. One of the reasons I joined here is to research Byetta. Weight is a major issue for me and I am considering bypass surgery.
For the good stuff. The proud father of 5 and a recent grandfather. I've sold cars since 1984. And I'm active on several shaving forums.

RT, Welcome to the forums, it's a great source of information and support. There are people here using Byetta (I'm not one), so if you have questions I'm sure you'll get answers.

RT What do you want to know about it. Other then that it was first discovered in lizards:D
It comes from a new class of medicines known as incretin mimetics - Byetta (exenatide).
here is some techo babble
ByettaŽ (exenatide) is a synthetic peptide that has incretin-mimetic actions and was originally identified in the lizard Heloderma suspectum. Byetta enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion by the pancreatic beta-cell, suppresses inappropriately elevated glucagon secretion, and slows gastric emptying. Exenatide differs in chemical structure and pharmacological action from insulin, sulfonylureas (including D-phenylalanine derivatives and meglitinides), biguanides, thiazolidinediones, and alpha-glucosidase inhibitors - drugs.com

Thanks for the welcome. I mod at a couple of forums, so I plan to spend some time searching the archives before jumping in with "old" questions. This looks like a great place to be!
