Hi there...
I am new here, but not new to diabetes. My mom who was also my best friend passed away 7 years ago from complications to diabetes and my father has diabetes. My doctor has told me it is not if it is when will I get it. I am fighting hard not to let diabetes win. My blood sugar has been 100 or lower but in the last few fasting tests from the doctor it is about 121. They think I am becoming insulin resistant. I have been looking online for good spots to get diabetic food choices in one spot, the stores never seem to have enough, and frankly I don't think that is right. Any ideas??
Thanks,
Michelle

Welcome Michelle.

Don't think of diabetes as winning, think of it as you getting smarter, stronger and more in control. You may have the disease but it doesn't have you if you don't let it.

Hi Michelle & Welcome. Nice people and plenty of great information to be found here.

My advice......watch your carb intake and get in some type of exercise if you're not already doing so.

Hi Michelle, welcome! I'm sorry you had to go through all that with your mom. I lost my mom due to diabetic complications (actually 13 years ago today).

With your strong family history, you do have a good chance of developing diabetes at some point in your future....but not everyone with a family history automatically gets diabetes.

Live your life, enjoy each day, but do make some smart choices that will keep you and your family healthy. Eat right, get regular exercise and regular physical exams and blood work so that if you do progress to T2, you'll know before you've had it too long.

We don't have to follow in the footsteps of our mothers.
