Good evening all!!! I was wondering if any of y'all have problems with fluid retention around your midsection? I take 4 injections daily (humulin N and Humalog, no other meds) and have been diabetic for 15 years. Doctors say my kidney function is fine(according to lab test an CT scans. I look like I am pregnant . Anybody else have this issue?

There are precedents
Male pregnancy (http://www.malepregnancy.com/)

In all seriousness, I'd consult with your doctor.

I do...in my case it's because I have an enlarged liver. My LFTs are still normal, but I think its enlarged due to my diabetes, since the liver is what produces blood glucose. Have you discussed this with your doctor?

You may also have a problem with the intestinal track not emptying fully or regularly. This causes abdominal swelling and is a problem for many diabetics. Try adding extra fiber and fluid to your diet.

Sorry, I'm not a male and I am not pregnant (tubes tied) I have spoken with my doc, he wants a GI done. I don't really have a good doctor though so I'm not sure how good following up with him will go once I have the test. Gotta love medicaid, they don't want to pay the docs that pay attention to their patients....

LFT is Liver Function Test .
I've not had good doctors over the past 11yrs so know what you mean.
Ive seen fatty liver on many of my path results but no doctor has told me it could be diabetes

Hey Bibby, I have also have a big gut too and thinking of a change in the diet may help and get the six pack back. :T

Yes, This is maybe the answer I think. :)

Is this just a "once in a while" condition...or are you always swollen? You might want to have a gastroparesis test done at your local hospital. (common for diabetics who've had D for many years)
