Hi everyone!
I just had my first check-up since I got pulled over by the sugar police. Much to my surprise, my Dr. didn't give me a full D dx, only IGT. I said, but what about my 6.6 A1C, and he said our lab measures a little high. But don't worry, I'm not leaving my web friends, your advice and support have led to the rest of the story. Dr. was very happy with how aggresive I've been with diet and excercise.
Back on February 18, my numbers were:
W: 179 lbs
A1C: 6.6
Total Cholesterol: 225
Triglycerides: 204
LDL: 148
HDL: 34
Today my numbers were:
W: 165 lbs (Happy)
A1C: 6.2 (Was hoping for better)
Total Cholesterol: 193 (Good)
Triglycerides: 72 (is that big a change even possible?)
LDL: 146 (you gotta be kidding)
HDL: 33 (****)
So generally good news. Except I was hoping for a bigger impact on my A1C and am a little dumbfounded by my LDL/HDL not even budging.
I read up on the web that carbs have a big effect on triglycerides. So I guess this is one proof I am faithful to a low carb (100 a day) diet. But what's the deal with the HDL? I've been working out 5 days a week for two months now. I have cut eggs out only within the last month or so, so maybe that explains the LDL. Genetics?
So plan going forward is the 'pre-diabetes' diagnosis with a low dose of Metformin and a statin.
Again, Dr. very happy. I told him about you guys. And, hey, I know its a matter of semantics, 'pre', T2, what difference does it really make? What I need to do remains the same.
Thanks to everyone,
Mike
