I'm 38 and ttc for the first time. My husband and I have been trying for the past 4 yrs. I'm finally seeing a fertility specialist the 19th of this month and I've got so many mixed emotions. Of course I'm excited, can't wait and have hope. But I'm also scared, uncertain and apprehensive. I'm really hoping that my body can handle being pregnat. I keep having visions of my kidneys shutting down, my numbers getting out of control, and any other complication that can happen during a diabetic pregnancy. I don't know where these thoughts are coming from. My A1Cs are 5.1 to 5.8 so my sugar is stable. And I haven't been told anything negative, except I may have PCOS. So are these fears normal or am I just an irrational basket case?....lol

Lol, no you aren't a basket case. It is part of the human condition for us woman to worry ourselves silly when it comes to pregnancy and babies.
Your numbers are great. So if you keep them that way there will be no problem.
Relax, look forward to becoming pregnant and have a beautiful baby.
Good luck with the fertility clinic and keep posting.

Heather.

Thanks, I was beginning to think I was going batty....LOL!!! I can't wait for May 19th. This Doctor will only take you if you are 35 yrs plus and have fertillity issues. I think I'm going to like this forum better than other sites because I have something in common with the other ladies here :)

I've had 5 children all while diabetic. :) I'm not TTC anymore, of course if there happened to be a *whoopsie* I wouldn't be sad... :T

Definitely keep your bgs in control before TTC and especially during the 1st and 3rd tri's, which is harder to do than you might think, especially if you have 9 months of "morning sickness" like me. :T

Welcome to both of you, by the way! Tinki, where are you in WA? We're trying to do get-togethers regularly. If you're in western WA (SeaTac-ish area), we're planning a BBQ for sometime this summer...
