Just curious.....When you take a shower do you disconnect your pump or do you shower with it connected. If you do disconnect do you suspend it or let it run?
Me I just started taking showers with it connected and when I don't have it on when I shower I just let it run.

If I take it off, I let it run. I almost always leave mine connected. I usually bolus for breakfast then clip it to the top of the curtain. I try very hard not to drop the soap ;)

I disconnect in the shower, mainly cause it would be on the floor or hanging more often than not. I'd knock it off all the time or yank on the tubing. I just leave mine on the bathroom counter on, no suspend. I'd get annoyed with the beeping every 3 minutes if I suspended it.

I bolus for 20-30 minutes worth of basal and suspend. I also make sure I don't leave the pump where a cat can play with the tubing!

I forgot to mention I don't suspend my pump. I should.....because I have left it sitting on the counter at bedtime. An alarm would remind me. I just don't do it.

I disconnect and leave it running on the bathroom counter.

Disconnect and leave it run. Usually only 5 to 10 minutes at most it is off.

Disconnect & let run. Sometimes I give myself a tenth unit when I reconnect just to be tidy.

Ok now, I feel like a dummy. Why don't you suspend instead of let run?

Disconnect and let it run. Never thought about suspend to tell the truth. A little beep to remind me to connect back up might be helpful though--sometimes I forget for a little while--usually not though.

Disconnect, don't suspend.

I don't know about you being a dummy, Jan, I think of not suspending as just laziness more than anything. :) For me my reasoning is, that in 20 or 30 minutes, it's just not "worth it" to save the insulin, throw in wanting to save my ears from a few more beeps, add basic laziness not wanting to press more buttons, and voila.

It's probably true that the reminder beeps would have made me put it back on a little faster sometimes. But I consider it a wonderful psychological break to take it off and NOT be hassled every few minutes by it :) And for me, personally, I'm very unlikely to forget to put it back on.

Yep, disconnect and let it run. Whenever I disconnect to shower, I feel like I've been let off the leash! :D

Isn't that the truth Anne. My shower is my free time away from the pump. I think that is why I don't set the suspend. I just don't want the pump nagging me.

I stay connected and clip it to the shower curtian. Since I use the longest tubing it's no biggie to me.

I disconnect and used to just let it run but now that I am using the bolus wizard (which takes into account active insulin) I suspend... although now that I can think on it, I'm not 100% certain that it includes basal in the active insulin?

Just disconnect and let it run, usually not disconnected for more than 5-10 minutes at most.

I allow myself 20 mins and bolus that amount up front of the shower. I then disconnect and suspend. If I'm longer than 20 mins, I'll consider another bolus when it's back on.

I always disconnect it and let it run...I sometimes keep it off the whole time I am getting ready (usually takes about an hour), but if I leave it off for that long I will give myself some insulin when I reconnect itv:cool:

Nope, basal isn't included in active insulin, so no worries there...

BUT in the middle of a dual or square wave, now THAT is a bad time to disconnect and not suspend... hang on... suspend will cancel out any bolus anyway... is that correct? So if you want your whole Dual Wave, you need to stay connected full stop, it won't "pick up" at a later date?

Can anyone comment on taking off/letting run or suspending, in the middle of a dual or square wave? I need to find my manual...

I disconnect and suspend. I might forget and the beeping reminds me.

I disconnect and let it run but now have decided that's not a good idea as I wore pumpy in the shower today and had a different response to my new basal rate. 6am to 7am is middle of my high basal for dp and 6:30am is shower time. Morning is timed very tight for me so bolusing missed basal would probably be hit or miss! Good question - Geezzz the things that I'm learning here continues to astonish me.

I've always wondered what others do!

I don't let it run, because then the IOB feature is not accurate if I need to correct. We have a glass shower door, so no curtain to clip to, and nowhere to "put" the pump if I stayed connected. I used to disconnect and suspend, but got really sick of the Fur Elise reminder that I was disconnected. I made a great breakthrough when I realized I could just do a temp basal set at zero for half or a full hour, depending on what my bs is before I disconnect. And I'll also give a small bolus before or after I disconnect, again depending on my bs, to cover the time I'm off the pump.

disconnect and running for me.
i usually leave it by the pile of clothes i will be wearing after my shower, i dont need to bolus for the missed time either.
