We just got a letter from our HMO/pharmacy alerting us to an important recall:
Digitek brand digoxin, which is used to treat congestive heart failure and/or fast or irregular heartbeats, has been recalled by Bertek because the tablets might accidentally contain twice the amount of the drug stated.
If you use Digitek, check the prescription label on the bottle for the manufacturer's name, or call your pharmacy for further information.
Symptoms of too much digoxin include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, changes in vision, a feeling of fast/racing heartbeat, and/or fainting. If you are taking Digitek and experience any of these symptoms, stop taking the current batch of medication and call your doctor IMMEDIATELY. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call 911.
