Hi Everybody

I ran several BG yesterday and here's what came up

138 fasting BG 7am
took med Januvia 100mg 1 per day 8 am
144 pre-breakfast 8:30 coffee and 2 fig newtons (yummy)
138 2 hr after breakfast
103 pre-lunch 11:45 So Cal.. Low Cal Pizza
106 2 hrs after lunch
117 pre-dinner 5:45 Schlotskies ( bad choice? )
106 2hrs after dinner
211 before bed 9:45

9:50 noticed fingertips getting sore!!!

Plus I noticed that I am more tired when the numbers are higher.. My appt with the DB Counselor is on 5/19... I am looking forward to her input. In the mean time does these number really tell you anything? Also, I read stories about people having BG's in the 400's, does this mean that I have diabetes to a lessor degree?

Hey Max! Glad to see that you are testing often. It really does help you see how foods affect you.

Sure there are people who have blood sugars in the 400's, it doesn't mean that you have "lesser degree" of diabetes than they, just that you are keeping yours under better control. Also, #s that high WILL cause numerous complications. Our goal is to keep our numbers as close to normal as possible to avoid these complications.

While diabetes is a progressive disease, there's no need to run numbers that high, as it progresses, we adjust/change our treatment to continue getting good #s.

As you saw from your evening post Schlotskies meal #s, sometimes it takes certain foods longer than 2 hrs to negatively affect your blood sugars. I find that when I have something in the evenings that are higher in carbs, my morning #s will be higher as well the next morning.

Sounds like you're making some good changes....its a learning experience and we all continually adjust what we do based on our results. Keep up the good work!

The numbers mean you're getting control.
As for the finger tips lance your finger on the side of the fingerpad, not the tip. And use more than one finger.

I sympathize with you on those sore fingers, Max! But testing often means you're much more aware of what's going on with your body. It really helps with your control. Keep at it!
