I got my endo to write a letter of medical necessity for a new pump and CGMS. It went through insurance and was approved. I guess since the Cozmo does not yet have a CGMS, I'll be going with the latest MM 722.

Does this pump support a leur lock infusion set?

What the latest consensus on the CGMS?

No on the luer lock, unless you buy 50/50 reservoirs.

I hated CGMS, but others seem to like it.

I got the 722 w/CGMS a couple weeks ago. I like it. CGMS works perfectly for me. I've gotten 9 days out of one sensor so far, had to recharge the transmitter on the 6th day though...it only takes 20 minutes to charge after the initial charge. Throw away the IV3000 they send, unless you like fiddling with the scads of paper they put on it. I cut a hole in it to accommodate the transmitter, so I don't cover the entire thing. Tegaderm works much better...

If you do get weird readings from your CGMS, make sure that you calibrate it 4 times in one hour (every 15 mins.), while you are completely flat. For some reason that makes it work really well.

Don't pair your meter with the pump, unless you want it to calibrate with every bg check. Also, go into carelink *now* and order the free USB link. Supposedly they're backordered, but I got mine in less than a week...

Unfortunately you're SOL on luer lock. Medtronic uses a proprietary connection. I hate it, to be honest. I don't like filling the reservoirs with their special little connector thingy either.

I thought I'd hate the proprietary connector as opposed to luer fittings, but I ended up liking it much better - I find it a lot easier to use, both for filling the cartridge and attaching the cartridge to the set.

I also ended up liking quicksets, and they're my new primary 90 degree set. (still use sils in thighs, as I did before on the Animas)

As Funnygrl said, there are reservoirs that can turn the proprietary into standard luer lock. Fifty50 sells them, and there's a company called Applied Diabetes Research that makes "ThinSet Reservoirs."

I've used both the proprietary of the MM Paradigm series & the standard luer lock for the rest of the pumps I've owned, and prefer the standard luer lock. The ThinSet & Fifty50 reservoirs allow folks to have options. :) Wish they were available when I was on the Paradigm.

Thanks for that info. I always do the CGMS for 2 weeks before my next endo appointment and I currently have it on. I need to try this.

The cozmore has a cgms. It is brand new and it is called the navigator. You can go to to find out more info.

The two don't link together yet though.

I'm going to look into it. I'm not too concerned about the linking up since the MM CGMS / pump combo is not closed loop. I'm more concerned about a full featured pump and a fairly accurate CGMS.

I still miss a lot of my Cozmo's features, but prefer Minimed's smooth form factor.

I'm with you there! I miss having the IOB on the main screen... I also miss my one-step Cleos. :( I use the quick sets and they're fine, but I liked having the whole thing in one container, since I have little people who like to hide stuff they've found in my room, which means that I've lost the serter about 4 times already (and moved it after each of those times...)

I miss the site change reminder and standard deviation on the bg average. I also miss IOB on the status screen and having an on-pump bg history.

Oh yeah! The site change reminder I miss a ton, as well as the on pump BG hx... yep, I miss those a lot. :(

Ahh, site change reminders would be nice! I am such a absent minded twit when it comes to that, I got into a busy week and was sore at one of my sites when I stopped to think about it, when was the last time I changed my site? Hmm, lemme think, oh, yeah, it had been a little while! Strangely, my BGs were good, just the site was a little "angry". MY fault though, I got so "comfortable" with my pump and getting on with my life, I neglected to keep up with site change practices, and of course, when I get a really good site, I did the "set it and forget it" thing.

Which leads me to my next comment, I so love segues! I sure wish it were a matter of finding a most awesome site, inserting and being able to leave it right there, forever! And everything would be just PEACHY with it right there, period! I know, I am being trivial, but still, wouldn't THAT be cool! (Even cooler if I just woke up and weren't diabetic anymore, were 4 inches taller, had a body like an Olympic champion no matter what or how I ate, earned 6 figures for just goofing off, lived on a yacht in the Caribbean, woke up next a new a new underwear super model chick every morning and was a NASA test pilot when I "felt like doing something". James Bond wishes he were ME. Oh, sorry, just dreaming big!)
