New pumper since feb 08

Hi all,

Have been pumping since feb 08 and things seem to be going fine, at moment on 7 basal rates and my basal insulin is now 10.2u 24 hours. I'm still hoping my hypo awareness will return fully in due course.

My visit to my consultant on 11.4.08 went very well and he is pleased and my a1c is now 7.2 last nov it was 8.6 but this was due to them having me running high due to the unawareness. I know i don't post very much on here but i do read a lot and this has helped me, i really am greatful for that.

Also at the moment i'm feeling very down, but think it's a number of things causing this and not my diabetes, finding it harder and harder to cope with this depression but luckily i have a great G.P who i'm seeing on monday, will just have to remember to tell him everything and not feel ashamed.

I just wish i had the confidence to post more often but think i'v mentioned before that i have difficulty comunicating this way and can't express myself.

Hi Julie, thanks for sharing your story! It's good to hear the pumping is going well, it sounds like you are really achieving great things. I hope you find some lighter moments re feeling depressed the coming weeks, having a good chat to whoever (even doctors, if they are cool ones :) ) can help. I tend to be optimistic and I think most of the time we can get ourselves out of bad feelings and situations, I wish you the best of luck finding better places to be.

I know what you mean by feeling unconfident with communication, for me I can have huge problems in interview style (like doctors) or especially on the phone. But I gotta say: I reckon you expressed yourself pretty well just now... be sure to keep us posted on what you are up to.
