I have been lurking for a few months and feel grateful for all the information I have learned. Thank you. The people on this board provide support and when they don't know it. I lost 35 pounds in 4 months and was misdiagnosed in 2003 as Type 2 by my PCP. After a year of oral meds and high levels, I went to an endo and one simple antibody test later, I was correctly diagnosed as Type 1 and have been on an insulin pump for a little over a month with much better control and levels.
I was curious in reading these boards whether there are any recent surveys that have been done. Because I do not know any other pumpers (or diabetics), I would be interested in seeing how I compare - things like type of pump; average basal; average bolus; novalog or humalog; etc. If you know of any surveys out there, please let me know.

Hello ande Welcome! As you have seen by looking around here, this is one of the best forums for diabetiscs in existance. :=
Good Question!
First, I understand your situation, I was misdiagnosed for 1-2 months before I went to an endo on my own and was properly dxd as type 1 (I can't imagine a year). It was so frustrating because here I am thinking I'm type 2 and eating as few as 10 carbs would make my sugar skyrocket. I could barely eat anything.
I do not know of any surveys, everyone is different, but I guess there would be some sort of "normal range" for basil and bolus. I can tell you that I have a MiniMed 712 pump with a Basal of 0.6, Bolus set at 1:15 with a sensitivity of 38, using Novolog. My "target" is set at 100.
Maybe if everyone "chimes in" we can get a better idea of what most people have.

Thanks for the info. If anyone else finds a survey like this of interest I would rather members tell me what questions they would like to see on it. I am willing to compose the survey, post it, then compile all the results in one place and post those. If there is no interest, that is okay also - I will keep lurking and learning. I love this site!

Hello Rose, and welcome to the Forums! I'm so glad you found us, and that we were able to help in any capacity. I look forward to reading your future posts, and am sure you'll continue to enjoy it here :)
An option you may like to look at for comparing yourself to others is to do a search regarding TDD, basal rates, CHO ratios, etc using the Forums search engine. Although I don't like to compare myself to 'standards' since I detest the idea of "normal" and never conform, I think your idea has merit and would be willing to participate.
Happy posting!

Welcome to the forums. I would be willing to take the survey as well. I have a 507C pump and will be upgrading in the near future. My doc is gathering info for me and he knows that I am not in a big hurry so he is waiting for me to say order me a new one. Glad you found some info and look forward to seeing your post.

Hello Rose and welcome.
Don't feel bad about lurking, I did it for a while as well... I was afraid I would sound like an idiot :stupid: for posting stupid or basic questions. The folks here have been great.
I am about to start on a pump in a few months and would love such a survey/results. If you need any help, let me know.

Thanks KO. I think you will love the pump when you get it. I do. I haven't had this many normal bg readings in well over a year. Best of all I haven't had a hypo episode in about two weeks. The lantus was reeking havoc for me. The survey idea didn't get too many votes but I will probably do it anyway.

You might try something like SurveyMonkey (http://www.surveymonkey.com). You can have like 10 questions per survey... FYI...
