I know they should not spike my sugar but they seem to raise my numbers.
I am talking about mixed nuts, walnuts and peanuts. Does anyone else have trouble with nuts raising their sugar levels.

 Huh? This sounds very strange Schlep. Perhaps more testing is in order.

No, not me. Have you tried it more than once?

Cashews do me in. Numbers go thru the roof. I can handle any other type of nut without any big spike.
By the way, the cashew really isn't a nut, but actually a seed.

Nuts don't bother me at all. I chomp cashews, pecans, peanuts... it's all good for me.
Peanuts, Lord love 'em, are more root vegetable than anything. I don't know if they classify as a nut at all. LOL.

You dont mention quantity? In moderation, they are beneficial, but an extra handful can spike me. :)

Slightly off-topic, but American scientist George Washington Carver developed over 300 uses for the humble peanut! There's an excellent article about him on Wikipedia, if anyone is interested in learning more about this remarkable man.
Life wouldn't be worth living without peanut butter and chocolate--preferably combined! LOLOLOL.

I eat a small quanity of nuts daily. I do mean small like 14 walnut halves or 8 almonds. About a dozen peanuts not many allow more than that because of the fat content.

I eat raw almonds and have no problems with spikes. My guess is if you eat the kind of nuts that are roasted with oil, then you will spike because of the fats.
Try raw almonds or some other nut that hasn't been roasted in oil.

Have no problems with nuts, prefer them roasted in the shell, could get through 100g over a few days, with-out the shells of course, makes me addicted, just love-um.

I've been trying to eat a handful of walnuts as a snack. Walnuts are supposed to be good for diabetics, so I try and stick with them. They don't seem to affect my BG levels much either.

Oil does not cause blood glucose to spike.

I've tried smoked almonds and spicy cajun peanuts and m numbers are fine. May be one of the nuts you are taking isint working for you. Test them separately and find out which one spikes you. Also, tell us how much high you go when you have mixed nuts and how much amount you have for each serving.

Protein and fat in access do affect blood glucose if taken in access I think. They are converted into glucose becasue that is the body's main scourse of energy. Also nuts dO have carbs in them, just not very many.
