so it looks like i am going to be getting a pump in the next few weeks, and i am very excited, but a funny thought my girlfriend brought up was- she asked if i was going to wax my belly for the adhesive on the infusion set. and my response was "i had not really thought about it"
i cannot imagine the wonderful pleasure of waxing my stomach, i think it would hurt like ****. or will a little baby oil take the adhesive off? i'm worried about the infusion set sticking to me.
yes i am laughing while i write this, and i am sure many of you are also laughing,
thanks for the input

Waxing might not be necessary, but if you really are hairy you might want to shave the area or else you might find your sets coming off!

I use a small electric shaver in the area that I'm about to apply to. That combined with an application of Skin-Prep wipes does the trick.

I use a tegaderm HP patch underneath my set. I have a slightly hairy belly/torso but have no problem either sticking or pulling off(apart from band-aid like pain). This is with the "HP" version, it's a better stick than the normal Tegaderm. I think with the normal Tegaderm I was finding problems with hair.

Best idea is just try and if you have problems, you can either shave/wax or look at other sticking solutions (like the tegaderm). As you may or may not have troubles with the set sticking regardless of hair, it's all trial and error.

I just shave my belly. I've used both IVPrep and mastisol. Right now, I just use the adhesive on the site backing and nothing else. Sticks fine.

I use the Mach 3 before putting in a new site or sensor, othewise I have issues with them falling off. The thought of waxing my stomach/sides isn't all that appealing but a quick shave only takes a few seconds and does wonders.

+1 Shaving and IV Prep Wipes. I am somewhat hairy so it looks a little odd to see two shaven patches on my belly, but I'm less worried about my looks than my health. :T
