Hi there,
I am new here, and I don't really think I am diabetic (at least I hope not) and I guess I just want an opinion from the people who know it the best.
I have done thons and thons of research, and my symptoms don't really seem to fit anything (i guess I should see a doctor, but I'd rather not). I am 18 years old, quite healthy. I eat "junk food" every now and then, but I have a generally well balanced diet with healthy home cooked meals appx. 6 days a week. I am normal weight, maybe a bit on the lower side for my height. Now the symptoms that I experience is that I get so unwell whenever I eat sweets, I can barely move. I end up with chills throughout my body, and after that i get diarrhea. This happens almsot every time I eat sweets, especially in large quantities. Most of the time I will be fine with one or two pieces of chocolate, but I can never eat for example a whole piece of cake. This started a few years back, and I just ate less and less sweets, and as time went by, it would happen more easily (like less sweets is needed to trigger it). I did have one episode where i fainted, but I don't know exactly why because I was on holiday in a different country and the medical services weren't really good, but I was told to eat salty food. Now I just cut out sweets completely. I can drink coke though, that does not affect me. I've read that peeing often is a symptom of diabetes, but I only pee a lot if I drink soda, alcohol, or coffee. Not water... I think that's normal though?!
I have considered food intollerance to specific kinds of sugar. But there's very little information on it, and nothing seems to fit the food group that affects me. So I really don't know! I will eventually visit a doctor, but I want to figure out what it possibly could be, and what it is definitely not.
Oh and as for family history, my grandfather has type 2 diabetes, not insulin dependant.
Sorry for the long post. Any thoughts, opinions or comments are highly appreciated.
Thanks,
-Alex
