So I went and bought some of the Dreamsfield pasta and finally tried it for dinner last night. My question is: How many grams of the carbs do you actually count? They say 42g per serving, 37 are protected, 5 digested. The reason I ask is that with this pasta I woke this morning with a high blood glucose (223) and I don't with regular pasta. Any ideas?

I do not know but I know that when I eat whole wheat pasta, I still have to eat only a small serving because it makes my BG run high (but not as much as regular pasta). I am back to normal by morning.

The carbs are listed as 42, but 37 of those just pass through. I usually only bolus for 5g per 2oz serving.
From the box I have.."Count 5 grams of carbs per each 56g serving when controlling carbohydrate intake for blood sugar levels to promote good health and weight control."
I also ate it once and after my blood was really high. So I've been afraid to try it again, but I want to! Although, I'm not sure if it was high from the pasta or from the candy i was eating too! =? lol well I'll try again.

Good question!
Inquiring minds would like to know!
I've been looking at dreamfields but scared to spend $3 a pound for a pasta when the carb data "looks fishy"

Did you cook it in water? Apparently if it's cooked in tomato sauce it will change the behavior. I'm skeptical. I wonder if other such things may change the behavior too.

My family and I eat dreamfields once or twice each week. Even with a large serving, it NEVER spikes my blood sugar! I would suggest trying it again. I do boil it in regular water and don't over cook it! Enjoy!

We use Dreamfields anytime we have pasta. I've not had a problem with it (so far). I cook it in water, EXACTLY as the directions read, as I read that overcooking it supposedly does away with the blood sugar benefits.
I didn't care for the elbow macaroni at all, I thought it had an aftertaste....looks like no mac-n-cheese for me!:(

I tried both. When I over cooked it, my BS went up to 160 after 2 hrs. When cooked not over-cooked, my 2 hr was under 120. I always have a bowl full (2 servings)

I have noticed that if I overcook it my BG spikes. So I make sure that I leave it slightly Al Dente. Great numbers everytime.
