Ive been on a insulin pump for about 10 years now and Ive run into an odd problem. I normally use humulog in my pump, however, at the current moment I am unable to get ahold of anything but Novalin R. Would this work? Ive read about a 30 min reaction delay, and just need some facts before I do something really stupid.

You obviously need to take into account the slower action for bolusing. But you will also need to adjust the timing of your basal rate changes accordingly.

Can you use Humalog pens? You can get a voucher for 5 pens for free if you can get your doctor to write you a rx for it. I'm on Novolog Mix 70/30 and I plan on getting my doc to write me a rx for the Humalog Mix 75/25 today so I can take advantage of the free pens until my rx assistance comes in.
