HI all, thought I'd introduce myself. 33 yr old 1/2-Greek, American, was diagnosed when I was 13, been on the pump for 6 years now(Minimed 508). My last A1c was 6.7, which is good for me, as I have very brittle control. I'm glad to have found an active message board. Most of the boards I find very rarely have anyone actively posting or much insight into such a vast array of topics. I have posted a couple of times thus far, and also posted my pic in the name and pic thread should anyone want to see my ugly mug:)! Good day to you all, and good luck to us all on living well, happy, and healthy.

Hi Archimeech

Welcome to the forums!

This is the only forum that I have found that is active and up to date also. I have been a member since August. I enjoy logging on everyday for the latest and greatest!!

My son is the diabetic (11 years old). He was diagnosed one year ago and doing really good.

Hi Nancy, I'm glad to hear he is doing well. My younger brother was diagnosed 1 week after me. He was 8 at the time. It pains me to see anyone, much less a child with an affliction such as ours. Just by being here I all ready know you are a loving and caring mother to him. Take care to be very supportive, but don't become obsessive with him and his diabetes. A healthy level of attention, concern and support is a good thing, but I have seen the opposite where a parent gets so obsessed that they drive their child to rebel. That's when they wind up doing irreversible damage to themselves.

Welcome to our little group...actually it's becoming a pretty nice sized group (which is great)- the more , the merrier! :D I am Type 1 also, diagnosed at age 24, just about 2.5 years ago.

Hope you will stick around and let us get to know you and vice versa :)

Hi archimeech, and welcome to the Forums! As you can see by all the warm welcomes you've received, this is the greatest group of Diabetics to be found anywhere. :) I'm sure that you'll make a great addition to our wonderful gang! :D

Feel free to post any questions or concerns you may have to the group; you'll find that everyone here is supportive and willing to help.

Happy posting!
