I have learned many things from having diabetes. Probably the most important is to appreciate life. I have met many people who don't seem to have any direction and who don't care about anything, even their own lives.
I have not always paid as much attention to the small things in life that I should. Now I do.
For example, my job can be difficult at times, but I put my heart into it and I love it. My job is truly my calling. Diabetes has helped me appreciate how important the everyday stuff is. What ever you do, love it!
Diabetes has taught me that and I am greatful.

I have learned to appreciate the small things. I have also learned I have more control over my life. I know this may sound weird, but I think I have actually become a happier person.

I have learned that nobody controls my healthcare but me. I have noone to thank or blame but myself. I am complication free after 34 years of living with this and it is a daily struggle. One that I live with 24/7. I am not ashamed of it at all. I do not hide it but I also do not let everyone know or use it for an excuse. I am pretty happy and content most of the time and love my family and kids. I hope to grow old with them all. :D

Betty,
I have to say that i really love your outlook on life and living with diabetes. I believe that diabetes is something that is completely manageable- although it gets old and i don't always take the best care of myself  I keep in mind that things could be a lot worse than having diabetes.
Hi Betty,
Good idea to stop and reflect on lessons learned.
Diabetes has taught me to be thankful. I'm thankful I have diabetes, which can be handled. I'm thankful for every day I get.
It's taught me to live life as fully as I can. I'm a cautious person by nature but I've tried lots of new things just to try them.
In the big picture: friends, family and other people are priceless.
It's taught me to prolong my life and health my picking and choosing my battles. I don't sweat the small stuff.

Diabetes has taught me:
I control my health, no one else, I own the consequences.
There are worse things in the world then Diabetes.
There are somethings that just dont matter.
Work to live notl ive to work. You spend over half you life working: SO you'd better enjoy it! No point being unhappy..
